"What was that?" Jasper asked after everyone heard the splash, and Meg walked back onto the ship, unsure what to think of at that point.
"I guess he didn't want to live with the guilt he had from your father's death," Caden guessed.
"It's so weird. I've been a member of the Air Mando for almost ten years alongside Captain Modi and Terrance Espen. Now, in the course of not even two days, both of them died. What are we going to do now?" Kevin explained.
"I think tonight, however, before we make any more plans, we should have a funeral for the captain," Bill said.
"I respect that," Annie replied, knowing how all of the crew members looked up to and admired Captain Modi.
Bill took the helm and began to head for where they would leave Captain Modi's body.
That night, Bill emerged from the captain's cabin holding the deceased Captain Modi, dressed in royal blue like a powerful and respected pirate.
"People on this ship, we have sailed to the Silent Reef. The coral reef where the pirate captains who have died are brought. We are here today to celebrate and remember the life of Captain Modi," Bill began.
"Before he was the man you all looked up to, he was a young man named Dominic Paat. A sailor with great dreams who traveled the world at the age of nineteen," Meg added, remembering things she learned about when reading the letters her father had written to her mother all those years ago.
"Soon afterward, he was a captive on the Air Mando. But learned the ways of a pirate quickly and would later become one of the greatest pirate captains the world has ever known. As he goes to the next world and joins the others we have loved and lost, I would like you all to raise your sword," Bill told everyone.
All of the people on board took a sword. They raised them to the sky as Bill walked over to the edge of the Air Mando and dropped the body of his beloved pirate captain into the water to lie alongside the coral.
