Chapter 20

"So, what are we going to do now?" Chris asked as everyone was drinking ale in remembrance of Captain Modi.

"Well, first of all, who's the new captain?" Mark added.

"Since I was the first mate of Captain Modi at the time of his death, it is my duty to take over as captain on the Air Mando. Kevin, you will now be my first mate," Bill explained.

"Just one question. Are we still prisoners on this ship?" Robert asked.

"As for the former prisoners on this ship, you are all free," Bill explained. Everyone on the Air Mando cheered and clapped.

"We're finally free!" Charles exclaimed.

"We'll be going home at last!" Albert added.

"And I'm going to be the first mate on the Air Mando!" Kevin rejoiced

The next day, the Air Mando arrived back in Maryland to drop off all of its former captives.

"Goodbye, former captives and members of the Air Mando. This has been quite the adventure; I'm glad that we will all be where we want to be and can't wait to see what's next," Bill said to everyone who was going to stay in Maryland.

"Hopefully, we will see each other again," Annie replied as the Air Mando began to sail off once again.

"Well, Meg. I guess I doubted you at the start," Caden told Meg after the ship was out of view.

"It's alright. We had never been out that far on the sea before. I just can't believe that after all of these years, I actually met my father," Meg said.

"So, what do we do now?" Jasper asked.

"Did we at least have fun?" Meg questioned.

"I mean, there were some moments that we were scared and complained about, but overall, l probably never forget about this," Jasper replied.

"I also now have this," Meg added as she pulled out Captain Modi's sword. Everyone on board had agreed that Meg should have her now-deceased father's sword.

"Wait, what about the Night Wind!" Annie called out, realizing that the ship she and Meg started their adventure on didn't return to the docks.

"Or the Star Sailor!" Jasper exclaimed.

"When we were originally kidnapped, the pirates looked through our ship to see if there were anything they would want to take with them. After that, left it in the middle of the sea," Charles explained.

"The same thing pretty much happened to the Night Wind. We were following them when all of a sudden, they were on the deck, kidnapped us, and left the ship," Meg added.

"Hmm, do you think it would be alright for us to go back out onto the water anytime soon?" Caden suggested.

"Why do you ask?" Jasper asked.

"I thought that maybe, since other than the part when we were attacked and kidnapped by pirates, we enjoyed our trip! Perhaps the five of us could go back out to sea to bring our two original ships back to land," Caden replied.

"I love that idea. In fact, I thought that maybe I could become the first female sailor in the port," Meg explained after a moment of thinking.

"If we do that, you can count me in," Annie said with a smile.

"Me too," Jasper added.

"Same here," Charles declared as he raised his hand in the air.

Sure enough, the next Friday, the five friends were at the docks, the same place where Dominic Paat and Bella Catalani met almost forty years ago, to now embark on the first of many adventures the group of five would experience together on the sea.
