Friday morning

ZZZ! ZZZ! ZZZ! ZZZ! ZZZ! ZZZ! Why is my phone ringing? I don't think it's time for me to wake up yet. ZZZ! ZZZ! ZZZ! Maybe if I ignore it, it'll go away and I can focus on my dream. My phone continued to ring. ZZZ! ZZZ! ZZZ! Ok, damn it fine I'll answer the freaking phone. I slowly opened my eyes and reached for my phone. I still have 45 minutes left of sleep and I have 4 missed calls from Soleia. Well she already disturbed my sleep, I might as well call her back.

I tapped on my phone app and called her number. And after the first ring she answered. "Girl guess what!", she exclaimed. "What girl? What is so important that is worth interrupting my beauty sleep?", I groaned. "Caleb Turner just asked me to the spring fling dance!" "Oh my God, really? That's what you woke me up for? Who the hell is Caleb Turner?", I asked.  Then she started to ramble about this kid.

"He's this new guy in my history class from Savannah. We sat next to each other for weeks but never spoke. It was like we wanted to talk to each other but didn't know what to say. Then one day I made some comment about the credit system during the Great Depression unit and he laughed. We've been talking since then and have just been bonding over being the new kids after spending a bulk of high school somewhere else. And the best part, he's tall, dark, and--" "Soleia if you say handsome I swear to--", I interrupted. "Foine!", she cuts back.

"He usually wears his hair in an afro but he's getting his hair plaited for the dance. Hold up, let me send you a picture of him." She sent me a photo of him and she was right. He's a good looking dude, but I can't let her know that. "He's aight.", I joked. "But I'm happy for you. I hope you have fun at the dance." "I still can't believe you're not going. There's gonna be 3 different kinds of food, a photo booth, decent music and tons of cute guys there and you're not going because...", she argued.

"Because I don't wanna go. It's as simple as that.", I replied. "Ok, but someday when you're gray, wrinkly, and constantly have chronic pain, you're gonna look back on this on be like 'Wow, I should've listened to my best friend and went to my junior year spring fling dance.'" I rolled my eyes at that comment. "Anyways, are you doing anything this weekend?", she asked. "Nothing besides chores and going to church.", I answered. "You wanna go to the mall with me tomorrow? I need to find a dress for the dance. And if you want anything, I got you covered." "Sure.  I'm gonna try and get however many minutes I have left of sleep before my alarm goes off. I'll see you later.", I said. "Ok, see you later."

After Soleia had hung up the phone, I checked the time to see how many minutes I have left of sleep. 28 minutes. My alarm goes off in 28 minutes. The average person falls asleep in 15-20 minutes and I was having a very good dream before my phone woke me up. But what if I can't fall asleep in that time? Eh, screw it I'm going back to sleep.

28 minutes later

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! After the third beep I shut up my alarm. I laid there staring up at my ceiling in frustration for several minutes. Thank God it's Friday so I can come home and sleep without  having any homework to do. I stretched my upper body and then got out of bed. Then I grabbed my towel and headed to my bathroom. I threw my towel over the shower curtain and went back to the sink to splash some water over my face, brush my teeth and floss before I got in the shower. Once I got in the shower, I started singing the lyrics to Beyonce's song Irreplaceable.

"To the left, to the left. To the left, to the left mmmmm To the left, to the left, Everything you own in the box to the left. In the closet that's my stuff Yes, if I bought it, please don't touch. And keep talking that mess that's fine, But could you walk and talk at the same time? And, it's my name that's on that jag ,So come move your bags, let me call you a cab. Standing in the front yard Tellin' me, how I'm such a fool, Talkin' 'bout, I'll never ever find a man like you.."
