Falling into place

Thursday night

"Onya, your teacher says your tour is scheduled from 10-1 pm and the place is about a 30 minutes drive. In order to avoid traffic we'll be leaving the house by 8:30 ok?", my mom called from outside my room. "Ok!", I shouted back. Nothing really happened today. We reviewed our quizzes from Tuesday in Ms. Little's class and practiced factoring binomials in Mr. Green's class.

Right before I debated on which extra credit assignment to do, I scrolled through my grades in algebra 2 to see which ones needed the extra boost. And no surprise it was the unit where we had to graph algebraic equations. Solving them is one thing but graphing them is another. To make matters even worse, my graphing calculator died in the middle of the test. If I do the poster all I need to do is explain what binomials are and give a few examples on how to solve a problem with them, but if I do the dictionary I have to define all of the main terms that we'll use this semester and give an example of them.

All I need for the poster is a poster board so I'll do that one instead. Plus this mid semester slash pre spring break burnout is really getting to me. Just one more week until we're on break. Since I won't be at school tomorrow, I texted Justin and Soleia about me going on the tour. Once I finished doing that I set an alarm for 7 a.m. I'm glad I don't have to drive anywhere tomorrow so I can sleep in, even if it's for an extra hour.

Friday morning

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Before the next beep could come I shut off my alarm. I could've snoozed it and slept for 5 more minutes but then my mom would come in to see if I'm awake. I stretched a little bit before I grabbed my towel to go to the bathroom. I splashed some water of my face, brushed my teeth and took a nice calming shower. After I got out of the shower, I put on my robe so I could find an outfit to wear today. Now what screams 'tour'? A sleeveless red top, black leather pants and a blue sweater.

"Onya it's 7:45! You better find your way downstairs in a few minutes so you can get some breakfast to eat. The only money I'm spending today is for your lunch at the school.", my mom called. "I'll be down in the next 15 minutes!", I answered. After that I quickly lotioned, dressed up and accessorized and by the time the short hand hit 8, I was downstairs waiting to see what my mom cooked.

My mom made some Toast, maple bacon, and scrambled eggs for breakfast and I paired it with a glass of warm milk to go with it. Now that I was eating, she could go back upstairs and finish getting ready. Man Deon and Amari better enjoy middle school while it lasts. I miss the days of staying up until midnight and still being able to sleep til almost 8 a.m. I'm starting to wonder if these eye bags would be a permanent thing.

By 8:25 I grabbed my bags and my moms keys and went to open the car. Then I threw my stuff in the backseat and went to go sit on the passengers side. One thing I love about this time of day is that the radio stations play the best music. 'Hmm what is the am radio gonna play today?', I wondered. And a few seconds later No diggity was playing. "Oooh that's my jam. Let me turn this up. Shawty get down good lord. Baby got em open all over town. Strictly biz she don't play around cover much grounds got game by the pound!"

"Getting paid is her forte each and everyday true player way. I can't get her out my mind, I think about the girl all the time. East side to the west side pushing phat rides it's no surprise. She got tricks in the stash, stackin up the cash fast when it comes to the gas. By no means she's on when she got to have it. Baby you're a perfect ten, I wanna get in. Can I get down so I can win!"

"I like the way you work it no diggity, I gotta bag it up, I like the way you work it no diggity I gotta bag it up." By the time the second verse came on my mom entered the car wearing a nice navy blue dress. "You're enjoying yourself this morning huh?", she asked. "Any day where I don't have to go to school, I enjoy myself. Thanks for the breakfast mom, it was delicious.", I replied. "You're very welcome, you ready to go?", she stated. I buckled in my seatbelt and nodded in agreement. And just like that we were off to the school with other 90s and 00s music blasting.
