We're in chapter thirty...I'm excited. It's been a while I started this book and yes it has come a long way.
To all who have been reading, thank you so much. Here's an update.
THIRTY: WAIT
Days went by and I didn't see Daniel. He didn't call or text. It was my fault, I had pushed him away. He didn't come to the restaurant when I was around.
I was cleaning the table when I heard Chisom laugh. I had given him to Jessica to hold him. I turned to see him in Daniel's arms, laughing.
Daniel kept tickling him and calling him funny names. He was wearing a shirt with khaki shorts, he had sunglasses in his hair and his dentition was beautiful.
I sighed. His face haunted me every day. I was happy he was here but would he talk to me?
"Are you day dreaming again?" I heard him ask. I looked at him. Chisom was in Jessica's arms now and she raised her eyebrows at me, walking into the main room.
"No...I'm not." I said and played with my fingers.
"Have you been crying?" He asked, touching my eyelids. I sucked in my breath and closed my eyes.
"No...I've not." I said and took off his fingers.
"You don't miss me?" He asked again and I stared into his eyes.
"No." I said and coughed.
He bent down, his face close to mine, cheek against cheek. I felt him inhale and then he backed away.
"I just came to see Chisom. Bye." He said and began to walk away.
His retreating footsteps seemed to stab me. With each step he took, I felt like calling out to him.
"Wait." I said before he left.
He stopped and turned to me."I miss you." I said and sighed. "I really do."
He covered the distance between us in three strides and grabbed my hand, plastering kisses on it.
"I missed you too." He said and kissed my cheek. I hugged him and took in his scent.
"Please...wait for me." I whispered and kissed his cheek.
