THIRTY THREE: HIS FAMILY.
The ride was slow and exciting. We were on our way to see his family, the Ekwueme's.
Daniel was excited, as we drove in his car."My parents are funny and strict. I have two sisters and three brothers. I'm the second born and the first son." He said and I smiled.
"They'll be excited to see you." He said. "I studied abroad. A friend of mine from there is with them, for the holiday. He also wants to meet you too."
"Oh okay. Can't..wait." I said, playing with my fingers.
"I know you're worried about Chisom." He said and held my hand. "He's in good hands."
We had left Chisom with Mama and my friend.
"It's not that. I'm...nervous." I said and bent my head. "What if they don't like me?"
"They will like you my princess. In fact, love you." He said and kissed the back of my palm.
Soon we were at his family house. The gateman opened the gate for us and he drove in and parked under a tree.
He stepped out and then came to open the door for me and offered his hand. I smiled up and him and took his hand. He closed the door and we walked up to the door.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
"Yes I am." I replied and he bent to kiss my forehead and then he pressed the door bell.
Within seconds the door was flung open and a chubby woman grabbed Daniel into her arms.
"Oh my son, I have missed you." She said and kissed Daniel all over his face. "You are a bad boy."
"Sorry Mom. I'm home now." He said and smiled at her. "This is Rosanna."
"Good afternoon Ma." I said and genuflected.
His mother stared at me, from my head to my toe.
"Who's she?" She asked.
"She's my fiancée Mom. I told you about her." He said and held my hand.
"Well, come in." She said rolling her eyes at me.
"Danny." I heard a girl squeal and run to hug him. "I missed you."
"I missed you too my sweetheart. You're so big." He said and she chuckled.
"Biko, hapu that thing. Look at you, as fresh as ever." She replied and he laughed.
She turned to look at me.
"Is she the one?" She asked and he nodded.
"Oh my God. Lekwa omalicha o!" She screamed and hugged me tightly.
(See Beauty!)Daniel smiled at me and I let go off all my fear.
"Dalu. How're you?" I asked.
"I'm fine oh. I'm Ada. Of course the first daughter." She said smiling.
"I'm Rosanna." I said and she pulled me along with her. Daniel walked beside us.
"Father, she's so pretty." Ada said and ran to the man sitting on a big chair.
"Good evening, Sir." I greeted and he nodded. Daniel greeted him too and he nodded again.
Daniel bent towards me and nuzzled my neck with his nose.
"What are you doing?" I asked, aware of his father staring at us.
"Getting attention."
"OMG, our brother is in love. Nwannem nwoke, kedu?" We heard a male voice ask.
(My brother, how are you?)"Obi." Daniel replied and hugged him tightly. "Missed you bro."
"I don't think you missed me." I heard Obi say and I chuckled.
He turned to me."Is this the princess?" He asked and Daniel nodded.
"I'm Rosanna." I said.
"Obi. It's nice that you've stolen our brother's heart." He said and turned to Daniel. "Dozie and Ebube went out. They will be back soon."
"Daniel my bro." I heard an entirely different voice. It sounded foreign.
"My man, what's up?" Daniel asked, hugging the friend.
"Is that the damsel?" He asked and I walked towards him.
"I'm..." I stopped, my eyes widened.
No! It can't be true!
What was he doing here?
Oh no!
