SIXTEEN: ESCAPE

I woke up, my body ached so much.  I was tired.

What happened? I asked myself repeatedly.

I saw myself naked and I quickly sprang up from the bed and covered myself with the blanket.

That...that man...

He wasn't there anymore. I couldn't find his suit and...

The bathroom door opened and the monster came out of the bathroom.

"Oh, you're awake." He said, smirking.

"You're evil." I said, my mood had changed entirely. I was upset. This man almost killed me.

"You made my night, sweet virgin." He said and dropped a bundle of money notes on the bed.

"I'll see you again, honey." He said and he opened the door and left.

I grabbed a loose dress and put it on. I saw Nana walked hurriedly into the room.

"Amaka." She said, tears running down her cheeks. "I am so sorry."

I sat down on the bed and looked out the window. She came closer and held my shoulder.

"We tried to stop her. But she didn't let us. She threatened us and our jobs." She said.

"I understand." I sniffed.

She pulled me into a very tight hug and I cried loudly.

"He did so many mean....things, Nana."

"I'm so sorry." Nana said, kissing my forehead.

"Let's escape, Nana. Let's run away." I said, holding her hand.

"If we run together, they'll search for us. I'll have to help you escape." She said and stood up, picking my travel bag.

She began to shove in my clothes in a hurry.

"Madam left today. I'll help you out." She said and gave a sad smile.

She cleaned me up and dressed me up. She placed some money in my palm.

"Use this to take care of yourself." She said and kissed my forehead.

She covered me with a wrapper and guide me outside the gate. She then halted a taxi.

"I wrote my number in a piece of paper. It is inside your bag. Stay safe." She said and hugged me.

"Thank you. I'll always call you." I said and got into the taxi.

I watched Nana as the taxi began to move.

I'd always remain grateful to Nana.
