House: Doesn't Matter
Year: After Hogwarts
D/N is Daughter's name (or what you would name your daughter)
Summary: You have 2 kids--Scorpius and a daughter (you can choose her name). You had to go out of the country for some work for the Ministry of Magic so Draco would be on his own with the kids for the first time. (Scorpius is 5 and D/N is 3) D/N had a nightmare and Draco tries hard to calm her down.
I am working on a request so it'll be out soon hopefully :) Have a great day/night wherever you are!
Draco's POV:
I finally lay down in bed. Both my kids are sound asleep in their rooms. I sigh. Taking care of two toddlers is hard. Y/N must have super powers to take care of these troublemakers all the time. Slowly, I fall asleep thinking of how grateful I am to have such an amazing family of my own.
-----------------------------Around 2 AM-----------------------------
I was shaken awake. It can't be morning already, can it? The room was still dark as night. The only thing was my door was open, spilling golden light from the hall into my room. My daughter, D/N grabbed my arm frantically. "Dad? I'm scared..." Her voice was small and shaky. I exhale, letting air I didn't know I was holding in out. My arms wrap around her small body and lift up the girl so she was sitting on the bed next to me.
"D/N? What's wrong?" I was exhausted but I couldn't just push her away. She's my daughter.
The little girl just climbed into my arms and buried her head into them. "Scary dream." She murmured. "There wa-was a monster...he took you and mum and Scorpius."
I press a small kiss against her forehead and hug her tightly. "It's only a dream...don't you worry. I won't let a monster take any one of you." I whisper, hoping that it would calm her. I wasn't home as much as Y/N was. I feel like maybe I wasn't as close to my children as I would like.
She relaxed a little and I felt slightly relieved. At least she feels safe in my arms. "Can you tell me a story?" D/N asked me, looking up at me with those beautiful Y/E/C (eye color) eyes that Y/N has. How could I say no?
"Alright..." I say. She squealed in delight.
"So...there was this-- " I started off.
"Hey! You can't start a story like that! It has to be 'once upon a time!" I laugh.
"Alright, alright. So once upon a time, there was a boy. He made quite a lot of bad decisions. He was stuck. His father pressured into doing-- " I was cut off yet again.
"But what was his name?"
"I think you'll know who it is later. Anyways...where was I? Oh yes! His father had forced him into assisting the villain. He had this...thing...he had to do. He had to help this evil guy start a war with the good guys. Of course, this boy was scared. He didn't want this. He could have been killed if he said that he didn't want to help."
"But why? Dad! You can't just leave out details!" I laugh.
"This villain was very evil. He'd kill everyone that didn't support him. So this boy was about to do what he was terrified of doing--killing someone." The memory brought back tears, even to this date. What if he told his daughter what he was before? Would she be scared of him? "A-and he was about to do it until someone stopped him--a girl. Not just any girl though. It was one that he loved so much. She stopped him from making the biggest mistake in his life."
"So then everything was great?" My daughter and her innocence.
"Not everything could be perfect. The boy ended up making the girl fall in love with him. They were happy until the person he needed to kill was killed by someone else. The villain ended up having the war he wanted to have. But the good guys won in the end." D/N sensed that I didn't want to continue anymore.
"But then who was the boy? And the girl?" I look away from her. Should I tell her? Should I lie? Should I just pretend that it was made up? Why would I hide myself from my own children? Am I still that coward?
"The boy...was me." I feel tears gather in my eyes and drip down my cheeks.
"And was the girl mum?" I nod. Suddenly, D/N threw herself at me, hugging me tightly. "So...you were there in the war?" I nod again, too full of shame to say anything. "I'm glad you're here dad..." I smile a little.
"Well...you see, you wouldn't be here if it wasn't for me..." I chuckle at my little joke though D/N didn't really get it.
"What?" Goodness! Were kids really this innocent?
"You'll learn when you're old enough...meaning not ever under my watch." Yet still, D/N was confused. I laugh even more at that. "Come on. It's really late. Let's get you back to bed." I scoop her up and carry her to her bedroom.
"Good night dad." I press a kiss against her forehead before standing.
"Good night." I whisper before exiting the room.
I sigh as I lay back down in bed. Finally, I'll get some much needed sleep.
