let's rewind a bit to the night Adelaide used her necklace on George...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
George felt a strange sensation like a translucent cloak was pulled over his mind. He looked down at Addie, no wait Adelaide...Adelaide Burke. He noticed that she looked upset as she walked away from him.
I should go after her
He began to make to make his way to her, but he had an odd thought that he should just let her go. He stood there, half of him wanting to chase after her, but the other half was telling him it was a bad idea. He wrestled with his thoughts until she was out of sight and he finally decided to just head back to the Common Room.
As he walked back in confusion, he realized his cheeks were stained with tears. What the hell was going on? He thought to himself. He couldn't remember the last time he cried, it made absolutely no sense that he'd be crying out of nowhere. Maybe it had to do something about Burke.
No. No. Stop thinking about her.
But why? Why should I not think about her?
He continued walking in confusion until his brother walked up to him. "Hey there George, whoah.." Fred's face contorted into worry seeing his brother who looked like he just finished crying.
"What's wrong? What happened?" Fred stopped George.
George looked at his brother with a furrowed brow, "Honestly Freddie...I haven't a clue." the two looked at each other with the twin look that they usually shared when they thought they were thinking the same thing.
"Has it got anything to do with Addie perhaps?" his brother questioned. "Addie? Geez Freddie why would it have anything to do with her?" he laughed, lightly hitting his brother's chest.
Fred felt a great uneasiness in his stomach. "Georgie..tell me you're joking? What did she say?"
George looked at his brother with a raised eyebrow, "I don't know why you're so hell bent on this mate. Anyways, I was thinking about the new,-"
Fred interjected, "Wait George, stop, just stop for a second." he looked at his brother straight on, with both hands on his shoulders, "What did Addie say when you talked to her?"
George gave Fred a sour look, "I don't know, is it even important?"
Fred gulped, did Adelaide erase George's memory? He didn't think she would do that after what happened to her last year and the fact she was head over heels for him, but George also didn't seem like his memory was fully erased and he knew Adelaide was a powerful enough witch to get the job done right if she truly wanted.
"Don't you remember? You and Addie were like all ooh I love you I love you, but in secret because her family is crazy?" Fred leaned further into George, he just couldn't believe she had it in her to obliviate his memory.
George scoffed defensively, "Shut up Fred. I just feel like we should just forget about her, you know?"
Weird, his memory wasn't erased, but something's off
Fred knew that George was completely smitten by Adelaide, he wouldn't have just decided in one day to "forget about her" as he so casually put it. There was definitely something off. The only possible way to figure out what number Addie pulled on George was to ask the smartest person they knew, Hermione Granger.
Fred decided to break the question to Hermione after Harry's major accomplishment in the tournament, she was sure to be in a good mood...well at least he hoped.
