Epilogue.

I tilted my head left, a deep frown taking its place on my forehead as I sucked in my breath, staying as quiet as possible to hear even the tiniest hint of sound. Except there was nothing. Everything was just...blank. All around me was dark, empty, and silent. Lost in the vastness around me, I tried digging deep into my brain.

Where was I?

How did I get here?

Why did I not recognize anything around me?

What was going on?

Am I lost?

How do I find my way home?

Just about to open my mouth to yell for help, for anyone to hear me, to tell me where I was, all of a sudden I heard a soft chuckle.

So low.

So far.

And yet I instantly recognized the sound.

How could I not?

Stumbling blindly in the direction of the voice, arm outstretched to reach the person, I hurried closer. My trembling legs running as fast as they could handle and yet with every step, the quiet laughter kept getting farther and farther away. Purposely moving away from me. Taunting me. Teasing me.

"Wai...wait...please...please...wait..."

My feet tripping over each I kept on rushing forward, desperate to close the distance between us.

And then it happened.

The very ground from under my feet getting completely snatched away and I felt myself falling.

Falling and falling.

Arms and legs flailing helplessly, trying to latch onto anything around me except there was nothing but empty space. Down the vacuum I went until I reached the very bottom to fall straight into my very nightmare.

A deafening splash ringing around me as I was immersed in a bottomless pool. Water flooding over my head while I slapped around frantically, listening to the laughter coming only a few feet away now. Loud and mocking. My mind battling between still trying to get closer to the voice all while fighting the fear gripping my heart as I prevented myself from drowning.

"Help...hel...pp...please...hel..."

Water pouring into my mouth every time I pried my lips apart, I chocked on the salt washing down my throat. The weight of the waves around me pulling me further down. Shutting my eyes tight one final time, with superhuman strength I made my last struggle as I pushed myself up, fighting through the crashing wave.

"Help me...please...mom!"

Waking up with a start, I sprung upright, sitting up on the bed, my heart racing wildly, fat sweat drops lining the edges of my face, as I panted in rugged breaths, trying to reorient myself to my surroundings, immediately hearing the soft snores of Kong sleeping next to me. One wayward arm flung across my waist as I finally felt my breathing beginning to slowly calm down.

A nightmare. It was just a freaking nightmare. That's it. That was all it was.

Brushing the back of my arm across my forehead to wipe away the sweat littering against my skin, I tentatively moved his arm off me before slowly slipping out of the bed. My feet still shivering from the vivid dream as I silently made my way out. Quickly grabbing a bottle of water as I rushed towards the balcony. Craving the chill of the night to cool down my overheating brain I sucked in a deep breath, and let out a whiff of sigh.

Breathing in and out slowly, reliving the stupid dream over and over again I tried to clear my mind. I don't even know how long I was standing there when suddenly I felt warmth envelop me completely.
