I wake up early to the sound of my alarm just like any other morning. I go through the motions of getting ready for classes. Showering, brushing teeth, getting dressed, warming up my voice, cramming whatever studying I can before and in between classes, eating a healthy breakfast, you know the usual stuff. It's been about two weeks since I've seen my friends back at McKinley, at least three days since I've talked to any of them.

The movie/game night last weekend was fun and all, but hanging out with my girlfriends is a lot more fun. There is no talk about girls, or gory movies, or sports. With the girls, we get to talk about fashion, gossip around the school, boys. Heaven knows that I need some girl talk. I haven't been able to talk to anyone about my growing crush on Blaine, it's been so difficult not to just blurt it out. God, what would he even think if I were to confess something as big as that. I can't ruin our friendship, I need him, he's helped me get through one of the darkest times in my life. Things are finally starting to look brighter for once.

The cafeteria is filled with noise. It's normal, although today it seems to be even louder than usual. I pick out my regular breakfast. Yogurt with some strawberries, blackberries, kiwi, and granola, along with a buttered croissant and a cup of coffee which Blaine generally gets for me. Because he practically best friends with all the staff at the Academy he gets the drinks free.

"So, do you know why everyone is so worked up about today?" I ask sitting down next to Nick and across from Blaine.

Blaine is beaming, "The Warblers are putting on a huge performance this Friday as a warm-up for Regionals. We booked an out-door venue surrounded by a grassy field. So, we were thinking we could do a huge barbecue/picnic sort of thing!"

"That's great!" I say. "Is there any chance I could invite the New Directions for a tiny bit of friendly competition to get us prepared?"

Blaine gives me an uneasy face, but Nick jumps in before he can say anything, "I'll run it over with Wes and the council. I'm sure it will be fine! We can see what exactly we are up against."

I clap my hands in excitement, "Oh I can't wait this is going to be so fun! Are there going to be auditions for solos by any chance?"

"Yes, we do know that Blaine is going to have one of the songs, then we are going to have a group number, then a duet," Wes confirms sitting down.

"Oh, I can't wait! I should probably go though, I'm not sure what song I'm going to sing," I say picking up my trey.

Nick grabs my arm and pulls me back down, "It's fine! You don't have to go, I'm sure Blaine would be happy to give you some ideas. I mean he is always going on and on about how angelic your voice is."

"Wouldn't that be a conflict of interest since Wes is also here?" I acknowledge ignoring the comment about Blaine.

"No!" Blaine exclaims at the same time Wes shrieks, "Yes!"

Blaine goes red, "I-I mean Wes can just go sit at the other side of the table right? Then he wouldn't even have the chance of hearing us."

"Wait, you are making me sit at the other side of the table so you can gush over Kurt's voice and what flirty song he could sing?" Wesley questions.

"Yes!" Nick blurts answering for Blaine.

Wes shrugs, "That's fair, see you at auditions, Kurt."

Blaine and I talk for the rest of breakfast about songs I could sing. Nick of course chimes in with unhelpful comments such as, "You two should sing A Thousand Years together," or "Blaine has always wanted to sing Come What May,". I'll admit for the short amount of time that I have known Nick, I have grown to become very fond of him. Plus all these comments are just giving me more of an excuse to tease him and Jeff. As soon as the day is over I call Mercedes inviting her over for Friday.

"Hey Boo, what's up in fancy town?" she answers on the first ring.

I laugh, "Not much. The Warblers are doing this performance on Friday and I was wondering if you and the New Directions wanted to come and make it a friendly competition as a warm-up?"

"That sounds great! Although that's a long drive, and if we are also coming up on Saturday?"

"Don't worry! We cleared it with the Dean, there are a few empty dorm rooms here so you can just pack an overnight bag."

Mercedes squeals, "Oh gosh! I can't wait! Now I am going to completely change the subject. How is that dapper boy that you have a crush on?"

"Yeah! What's up with Bowties McGay?" I hear Santana call from the background.

"Wait, am I on speaker?" I ask.

"Yup! Don't worry it's only me, Santana, Berry, Tina, and Brit," she assures.

I take a deep breath, "I guess it's going all right. It's so difficult though, every time he looks at me I get these butterflies in my stomach, every time he talks or sings I literally cannot stop thinking about him. The worst part is I am completely in love with him and he doesn't notice any of the hints I've given him! Plus he has been talking a lot about this guy named Jeremiah."

"Listen, Lady Hummel, you've gotta grow a pair and just tell him how you feel! Stop being a wuss," Santana scolds.

"It's not that easy!"

I can hear Brittany giggle from the other end, "If Kurtie and Blaine got together you know what they would be?"

"What?" Tina asks.

"KLAINE!" she squeals in response.

I roll my eyes but laugh with her, "Brit, I really wish he felt the same way, he clearly doesn't though!"

"You don't know that!" Rachel defends. "Did you think that maybe he is talking a lot about Jeremiah to make you jealous? To see how you might react?"

"No..."

"Exactly! So perhaps you could try being a bit more obvious? Compliment him more, give him a flirty wink once in a while!" Rachel suggests.

I sigh in defeat, "I guess you are right. Listen I have to go, I have a lot of work and studying to do. I'll see you all this Friday?"

"You bet!"

"Bye Unicorn!"

"See you Porcelain."

"Byeeeee!"

Hope you all are happy and healthy! Enjoy the new chapter!
