Yongsun POV
“Wheein-ah”, I whisper as I get inside the room. My hands are sweating, my whole body is shaking and the only thing I want to do is finally hear her.
“Unnie...” She whispers and turns her face to me. Her body doesn't move, her condition is still bad but her eyes sparkle. I missed her voice. I missed her so much.
I sit beside her and stroke her hair. I can't contain tears from falling down as much as they want. They're happy tears right now, only happy tears.
“Why are you crying?” Wheein asks, softly smiling. Her voice is really low compared to the puppy high voice she had sometimes. But even though she's physically and mentally hurt, she looks happy.
“I missed you so much.” I tell her, while my tears make their way down my cheeks, more of them falling as I answer the younger girl. “I am so sorry I wasn't there, Wheein.”
“You don't like that kind of gimbap, Yongsun.” She mumbles, her face looking serious and her eyes staring right back at me.
“What?” I ask, confused.
She chuckles. “You don't like gimbap with spinach. Me and Hyejin were gonna eat it together. You weren't there because you don't like gimbap with spinach.” She smiles.
“N-no, Wheein-ah...” I whisper and caress her cheek. “I wasn't there for you to help you, I am apologizing for that.” I smile back.
“You’re dumb, unnie. Just because you're growing some muscle, you wouldn't be able to stop a car from crashing.” She giggles in a soft way, closing her eyes.
I laugh back at her joke. “How are you feeling?” I ask.
“Well... My head hurts a lot, and my body too. I feel like I'm drained, like I didn't sleep at all. And I also feel like days haven't passed. But I talked to the nurse, she told me it's been almost two months. I don't feel it, but I'm sad I missed two months of my life in this bed.” She frowns.
“It’s okay, Wheein-ah. You didn't miss a lot, so rest your head, yeah? When you get out of here, you can do a lot of stuff to make up for the two months.” I chuckle and boop her nose, causing her to have a funny reaction.
“By the way, how are you and Byul doing?” She winks. “Can I be the maid of honor?”
I try to keep my expression from switching and smile at her.
“I can't give you an answer for that.” I wink back and get up. “Have you talked to Hyejin yet?”
“No. How is she doing? Is she okay?” She asks, her eyes getting wider.
I nod. “She’s stuck with a lot of solo projects now, I bet she doesn't know you woke up since we didn't give her phone number as the emergency one. I'll call her now, okay?”
Wheein nods and smiles, and I get flashbacks from all the times she looked at me like that. Like she wanted to be praised, loved, taken care of. She is indeed our puppy.
“Yongsun? It's late, did something happen?” Hyejin answers the phone.
“Huh, yeah, Hyejin. There's someone here who needs to tell you something.”
“What? If this is a prank, I swea-” She starts complaining, but I hand over the phone to Wheein.
“Do you always misbehave when I'm not around?” She says, keeping her tone down. I guess it still hurts her a bit to talk.
“Who is th... Wheein? Is this you?” Hyejin asks, then starts crying. She's full of joy, I can almost picture her crying and smiling at the same time, hitting the walls and the floor. She really thought she wouldn't hear her voice again, so the feeling of getting your soulmate back must be really good.
“Yes, stupid bitch.” Wheein giggles. “I miss you, I'm really hurt so could you come see me soon?”
“First thing in the morning.” Hyejin answers quickly, and I look at my watch. Right, I have to leave too. Time for visits is over in a few minutes.
“Wheein-ah, give me the phone. I have to leave now.” I say, getting the phone back and saying good night to Hyejin. “I’ll come again tomorrow, yeah?”
Wheein smiles and nods. “I’ll sleep well now.”
I smile back and cover her better with the blankets, making her yawn. I say goodbye and make my way through the corridors. I can still feel the drunk sensation, but talking to Wheein made me feel sort of sober.
As I'm almost leaving the hospital, someone bumps against me. I curse and look up, while taking my hand to my chest, where they accidentally hit me.
“Yongsun.”
