Kayla's POV
Ugh, I don't know what to do.
I want to go to Korea with NCT so badly. This is a once in a lifetime chance, and I'm more than happy to leave this dumb life and go make a new one.
But...
If I leave, what happens to my family? Yes, they're jerks, but I will admit that they are one of the things that I'm familiar with.
I'd have to sign over this house, quit my jobs, sell so many things, and maybe even give away my pets. That's insanely hard.
I want to say, "Yes, I'll go!" so badly, but my duties here are not easy to give up or pass on.
I make a promise to myself that if I happen to get all my duties under control, I'll fly out to Korea as soon as possible.
If that ever happens.
I can only sit here, torn between two decisions as everyone awaits my answer. At last, I decide to just be completely transparent about my thoughts.
"I'd love to go to Korea, but I'd have to clear my responsibilities here first," I explain.
"What if we help you clear them?" Kun asks. Oh no, not another person. The Dreamies are already making me waver in my decision.
"I doubt you can, but sure," I shrug. No matter how hard they try, I seriously don't think it's going to work out.
"Let's get it!" Mark cheers, hyping everyone up.
"So, Kayla, we have to start by making a list of your so-called 'responsibilities,'" Taeyong starts. I seriously don't want to reveal any unnecessary things about my life because I hate getting pity.
"I... Well... The house?" I begin.
"The HOUSE?" Kun exclaims in surprise.
"And the utilities and stuff," I add.
"The UTILITIES?" Kun gasps. "Oh no, this is going to be more complicated than I thought..."
"I told you it wouldn't be easy," I shrug, trying to delay the rest of the conversation.
"Okay, what else?" Taeyong asks, acting like he's not surprised.
"I'd have to do something about the pets," I continue, mindlessly stroking the silky fur of my oldest cat, my first pet.
"You don't have to give them away," Lucas interjects. I tilt my head in confusion.
"Bella is very lonely, and Louis and Leon got tired of each other a long time ago," Xiaojun explains, catching onto his plan.
"So you're saying we can bring these pets to Korea with us?" Taeyong clarifies.
"I mean, why not? It can't be that hard," Hendery says. Taeyong nods, and I feel a surge of happiness, which unfortunately doesn't last long.
I continue rattling off a whole list of things that we would have to do. The longer it gets, the more things I think of.
"Alright... I think that should be it?" I finish, racking my brain for anything I missed.
"My thumbs are going to be dead for the next month or so," Taeyong jokes.
"But like, Kayla, are you actually okay?" Jaehyun asks, looking genuinely concerned for me.
"Uh, I think I'm fine? Do I... look not fine?" I ask, confused.
"No no no, just the list of stuff you said you had to do concerns me," he responds.
"Oh, okay, I get it. Yea, my life isn't normal, but I don't really care," I explain, dropping the topic before I can get an overload of sympathy.
"Honestly, there's only one way around this," I realize, changing the topic. "We have to talk to my parents about this. If you think about it, this is all their responsibility."
Wait. Now that I myself think about it, why am I doing all this dumb service for them in the first place?
"Wait, why don't they do it, then?" Yuta asks curiously.
"Never thought about it, I just catch all the stuff they throw at me, no questioning allowed," I respond, starting to seriously think about my life.
"There's only one thing we can do!" Taeyong announces.
"Yeah, and if we get threatened, we outnumber them!" Johnny adds excitedly, looking kind of excited to beat my family up, not that I'd really care at this point.
"Alright, let's go meet my parents."
