BLAKE'S POV

My heart pounded as I walked back and forth in his office. I didn't know what I was thinking slapping him. A man like him could've snapped my neck without blinking. But he didn't. He didn't even raise a hand to me. To me he wasn't that evil person everyone else seen him as. They saw a monster. I saw someone else. Someone complicated. Broken. Someone worth trying to understand, no matter how foolish that made me.

I wondered if he was about to kiss me before one of his men came in interrupting us. The way he touched me made me want him even more. Even though he was an asshole, there was a part of him I wanted to explore.

When he talked about his brother, I saw it, the pain behind his eyes. It wasn't rage or pride. It was heartbreak. Maybe that's what pushed him into the world he's in now. I don't know. But I want to find out.

I always knew my father was an evil person. I had a strong feeling he was behind my mother's death. But hearing Roman say it out loud, hearing him call my father a murderer who killed an innocent kid? It made it feel real. I never wanted to see that man ever again and I'm glad I haven't in the past years.

I wanted to listen to Roman and stay in his office, but If something was happening out there, if the people I worked with were in danger, I couldn't sit by and protect myself. That wasn't me.

I slipped out the door and made my way downstairs. Everything looked normal. Teddy was giving a guy a lap dance, Rae was center stage, spinning under the lights and people were drinking, laughing, throwing money like nothing was wrong. I exhaled a shaky breath. Maybe the threat was nothing. Maybe Roman was just being paranoid. I walked over to the bar and waved at the bartender.

"Vodka soda," I said, trying to calm my nerves. My hands were still shaking. I grabbed the glass and took a long sip.

Then I felt it, a hand yanked violently at my neck, jerking me backwards into a wall of muscle. My head snapped back into someone's chest. I gasped, but the air didn't come. My eyes almost popped out from the sudden rush. Someone's strong arm was around my neck and I could barely breath. I yelled as loud as I could before I gave out of breath. Everyone's attention turned toward me.

"BLAKE!" I heard Rae yell from the crowd of people.

I fought to break free, pulling at his arm with everything I had, but it was no good. He was too strong, way too strong.

The man leaned down to my ear, his breath hot and sour. "The daughter of Luis," he hissed. "We've been looking for you."

I kicked and squirmed from his grip, giving myself breathing room. "Let me go!" I yelled as I tried wiggling myself free.

He pulled a knife out aiming it toward my neck. "I suggest you stay still before I cut that pretty neck of yours."

I looked around at the forming crowd. I felt a tear fall down my face. Someone fucking help me, stop staring. This can't be happening right now. I should've listened to Roman. Fuck. What the hell could they want with me.

"Now everyone, you didn't see a thing, go back to what you were doing." He turned to drag me toward the exit, but then he stopped.

There was Roman standing between us and the door with his gun pointed directly at his head. Roman's men were standing behind him with their guns pointed at the man too.

"I suggest you let her go." Roman's husky voice roared. I never heard someone sound so pissed and demanding.

"Or what." He pulled the knife closer to my neck, releasing his tight grip on my neck, giving me time to catch my breath.

Roman chuckled taking a step closer. "Jared, is it?"

The man froze. "How do you know my name?"

"Oh, don't worry about that." Roman's tone causal, but deadly. "What you need to worry about is your next move."

Roman glanced at me, his eyes dark with fury, but also something else, concern. I mouthed, I'm sorry, trying to explain with just a look.

Jared looked around, like he was looking for someone.

"Oh no need to look for your men, they've been taken care of." Roman smiled.

"You bastard!"

"Tell me why you're here and I'll let you go." Roman said nonchalantly gripping his gun harder.

I knew he was lying. I knew he'd never let him walk out of here. It was too much of a risk for him.

"Oh, it's no secret why we're here." He smirked. "Luis needs his beloved daughter back. She has a very wealthy bounty over her head."

Roman took a step closer.

A what? My heart started pounding out my chest. A bounty. I have a bounty on me. "Wha-. Why?" I blurted out. Who would do something like this?

"You're the heiress. The next in line to inherit Luis's empire. You're worth a fortune. Once people found out about you and saw how pretty you are, of course they'd want a piece. But your daddy doesn't want anyone marrying you and stealing his legacy. So he wants you locked away before anyone else gets the chance." Jared finished off.

I swallowed hard as I was grasping everything he said.

I couldn't breathe. I shook my head. "No. That's not... I don't want any of that. I didn't ask for this."

This can't be right. His empire? My dad runs an empire. I thought he was just a cold blooded killer, with people by his side, but this is even worse.

Roman's jaw clenched. He turned to one of his men. "Clear out the room."

People started being escorted out of the club. I seen Rae from a distance trying to stay but she was carried out. Oh Rae.

Roman turned his attention back to Jared and I. "Luis is a damn fool if he thinks he's getting anywhere near her."

Jared's voice lowered. "More will come. He'll find her eventually. He'll make her disappear. No one will stop him. Damn him for having a child. But enough of this!"

I looked around as everyone and everything started fading from my eyes. My heart was beating faster than usual. I felt hot, like fire. "Roman..." I mumbled as I felt my body slowly go numb. I looked down noticing a needle sticking from my side. "Roman..." I yelled but it was more of a whisper.

"You asshole." I heard Roman yell as everything went dark.
