"Every forever begins with one impossible leap of faith."

Thankfully, Molly refused to give up.

After nearly an hour of experimenting with a mixture of old healing charms, pain-relieving potions and several spells Arthur vaguely remembered seeing used at St Mungo's years ago, she had finally managed to reduce the agony enough that Katherine could sit upright without immediately crying out.

Walking still hurt.

Breathing still hurt.

Turning her head too quickly sent sharp bolts of pain racing from the base of her spine to the back of her skull.

But compared to earlier...

It felt almost miraculous.

Nobody mentioned the healer.

Not once.

The image of Healer Maruna collapsing onto the sitting room floor lingered in every person's mind, yet an unspoken agreement settled over the Burrow.

Until they understood what had happened...

Nobody wanted to talk about it.

She had never been someone who wasted energy fearing things she couldn't change.

Whatever had happened...

It had happened.

Worrying without answers wouldn't magically produce them.

Instead, she simply accepted that, for now, there were none.

A quiet knock sounded against the sitting room doorway.

Katherine looked up.

Fred stood leaning against the frame, one shoulder resting lazily against the wood.

"So..." He folded his arms. "Think you can make it upstairs?"

His lips curved into a familiar crooked grin.

"My room's considerably nicer than this sofa."

Katherine smiled despite herself.

"Are you attempting to charm me into abandoning my sickbed?"

"I'm attempting to rescue you from Molly."

"You mean the woman who's keeping me alive?"

Fred pretended to think.

"Details."

She laughed softly before carefully pushing herself upright.

The pain was immediate.

Her smile faltered.

Fred was beside her instantly.

"I've got you."

"I want to try."

He hesitated.

Then slowly stepped back.

"Alright."

Very carefully...

Katherine planted both feet firmly on the floor.

She counted silently.

One.

Two.

Three.
