"The things left unsaid often become the words we carry forever."

Summoning every ounce of courage she possessed, Katherine climbed the familiar staircase towards the twins' bedroom.

Each step felt heavier than the last.

George's words from the night before echoed relentlessly inside her head.

Talk to him.

She had replayed that advice over and over while helping with the wedding preparations, convincing herself that George was right.

They couldn't keep dancing around each other.

Not with everything hanging over them.

Not with the possibility that she could leave within days... or weeks... or months.

She couldn't walk away without knowing where they stood.

Stopping outside the bedroom door, she inhaled deeply before knocking three firm times.

No answer.

She waited another few seconds.

Still nothing.

Rolling her eyes affectionately despite everything that had happened, she pushed the door open.

The room looked almost identical to the morning of the Gryffindor Quidditch Final all those years ago.

Clothes littered every available surface.

Half-finished joke products sat abandoned across George's desk.

One curtain had fallen halfway off its rail.

And, occupying their respective beds exactly as they always had...

Fred and George.

Both completely unconscious.

Katherine folded her arms.

"Honestly..."

She strode into the room.

"Wake up!"

George groaned immediately, pulling his pillow over his head.

"For heaven's sake..." he muttered sleepily. "We've still got an hour before the ceremony..."

He cracked one eye open just enough to glare at her.

"That gives us at least another forty minutes of sleep."

Ignoring him completely, Katherine marched across the room and yanked the curtains on his side of the room open.

Bright morning sunlight flooded inside instantly.

George let out an exaggerated cry of pain.

"My eyes!"

"Oh, stop being dramatic."

Katherine laughed despite herself.

Some things, apparently, never changed.

She walked over to George's bed, folded her arms again and raised an eyebrow.

"I need you out."

George frowned.

"What?"

"I need a word with your brother."

Realisation dawned across his face almost instantly.

His expression softened.

"...Right."
