"What?" Poe turned to her confused.
"I said dammit. The scope isn't picking anything definitive up." Y/N covered what had escaped her mouth as best as possible. "But it doesn't look like they're with the Order. They're not dressed properly."
Of course, they weren't because that was her Cassian, and Jyn and K-2SO. Another irreplaceable part of the Resistance and they were making their way towards the ship.
"How many are there?" Poe tried to squint through the sand, but the winds had picked up even more and you would probably lose sight of your own hand if you stepped out.
Y/N once again put her eye to the scope, as if she hadn't already recognised the people walking in the storm.
"It would appear there's three of them. Two humans and a droid. An Imperial one at that."
Poe's eyebrows shot up to his forehead. "Imperial? That means they could be prisoners, we have to go an-"
But Y/N dismissed his worries. "Doubt it. Can't see clearly, but it would appear that the droid isn't carrying any weapons, the people are."
She gulped. They were still advancing towards them. To her, it felt like she was being punished. By the Force or simply by fate. Two years she had been successfully avoiding Cassian and the Rogue One gang, but now, it appeared there was no way out of the inevitable meeting.

K-2SO kept them moving even through Cassian's and Jyn's protests.
"I find your lack of trust in me incredibly insulting, captain."
A frustrated groan came from Cassian. "There is nothing here, K-2." His accented voice was slightly muffled by the cloth pressed against his mouth and nose.
"Untrue, captain. My sensors are picking up two life forms coming from that Star Destroyer."
"So what?" Jyn piped up. "They could be just scavengers living there. And if they're not they could be Order sympathisers and we seriously don't need a scuffle right now. Mon Motma is already pissed off with what happened on Takodana, we don't need to aggravate her even more. Besides, we didn't see the X-Wings they supposedly flew."
"Thank you, Jyn. At least someone has some reason in them."
"I'm a reprogrammed Imperial Droid. I don't have reason, simply facts. And if my facts are correct, which I'm 78.5% sure they are, before landing I saw an orange and white BB unit with them. This particular one belonging to Poe Dameron, a resistance pilot."
Jyn's head perked up. "Then why did they flee?"
"I would think a ship connected to the Imperial times and now the First Order is not the way to gain the trust of rebels."
Cassian let out a snort. "Of course. Well then, how should we announce ourselves?"
"I would think that saying we're not part of the Order is a nice start." K-2 piped up.
"Genius," Jyn muttered under her breath. "But I think that moving to them without our guns drawn would be a better idea." The female suggested.
"And if they shoot?"
"We'll use you K-2 as our cover" she sweetly smiled up at the Imperial droid.
"Or maybe we can use you as the cover. My knowledge can greatly influence the outcome of a battle, whereas your soft flesh can be easily harmed and rendered useless."
"Don't make me regret that you got reprogrammed." Cassian reprimanded K-2, but only half meant it.
"I doubt that," K-2 retorted while they made their way towards the ship, "there's a 68% chance of your life becoming duller without me around."
"Wow, way to not boost your ego." Jyn shook her head, but even she couldn't hide the smile the sarcastic droid brought to her lips. And her heart warmed even more as a ghost of a smirk and barely visible lines made their way around Cassian's eyes as he moved to look back at her.
Jyn knew Cassian always put on a brave face for everyone. For her and their team, for the Resistance. It was rare these days that he smiled. Not since the girl who had stolen his heart, broken it into pieces and left without any warning.
Her blood curdled at the thought of Y/N, how easily it had been for her to destroy her friend's happiness, though in the back of Jyn's mind she knew there was more to the story. Y/N would have never left Cassian like that, she loved him too much. It was visible in the way her body seemingly came to life whenever Cassian walked into the room and their eyes met. Y/N had the same effect on Cassian, yet lately, her attitude had changed. She had become distant and would initiate fights. Sometimes Jyn even ran to their quarters just to check if her friends were all right.
Jyn's fists had balled up in anger when she realised they had come to the mouth of the hangar. Cassian had raised his arms up, trying to show they were not a threat and Jyn followed suit.
His voice rang through the ship's interior. "We know you are part of the Resistance. So are we."
He looked back to Jyn and K-2 who comically shrugged his shoulders when no response came. "We received a distress signal from D'Qar, from General Organa, that two of her people were on Jakku without back-up and hadn't made contact in three days. Our shuttle was the closest, so we came. Sorry, if we spooked you with the Imperial one."
Again there was nothing.
"Maybe they left. Or have deci-" but Jyn's thoughts were cut short as a man emerged from the opening. A blaster by his side, the finger on the trigger ready to fire at any moment, but his stance seemed to be somewhat relaxed.
"Rebels, huh? And where are you stationed?"
"Yavin4." Replied Cassian. "My name is Cassian Andor and this is Jyn Erso" he motioned towards the woman. "And that is K-2SO, he's a reprogrammed Imperial Droid."
"Poe Dameron."
"We know, General Leia informed that her two best commanders who also happen to be her best pilot and her best intelligence officer have been stranded on Jakku, along with a BB unit."
Poe wasn't even able to reply when the previously mentioned droid rolled right next to his legs.
"BB-8! I think I told you to go."
The droid started to go on a lengthy speech of how he was never going to abandon Poe ever, that he was done with seeing his master in danger, especially not after what had happened with him on Jakku previously.
Poe's mouth hung open in shock. Of course, there had been times BB had reprimanded his master for something especially reckless, but this was new.
BB ended his speech with something along the lines of if Poe ever decided to unnecessarily risk his life ever again, if there was a chance that his master would not come back, BB-8 would make sure himself that Poe was stationed on the ground permanently.
Cassian, Jyn, even the always sarcastic K-2SO were speechless and the BB unit himself seemed shocked by his own outburst but stood by what he had said.
"Alright, BB. I'll be more careful," Poe slid down on one knee, bracing his arm on the droid's surface, "but you know that we all have to do what we have to for the Resistance. That includes me being in danger and you following my orders."
BB-8's head lolled down in a sad agreement gesture. "Chin up, buddy. As I said to Naili, you can't get rid of me that easily."
The spherical droid reeled back emitting happy beeps as he started to recount the heroics of his master. Jyn's mouth quirked up to that.
"You have a cute droid."
"Yeah, I know, he's the best," Poe lifted his head and tried to see through the ever-increasing storm.
He turned to the three other rebels and stood up. "Our X-Wings are a day's walk from here, but the sandstorm is making it a bit hard for us to reach them."
With a backwards thumb, Cassian gestured to the ship behind, even though through the yellowish air nothing could be seen. "We can give you a lift if you like, it should take us what ten minutes if you give us the directions."
"Yes, thank you! Okay, BB," he once again crouched down to the droid, "let's go see if Naili is doing fine and then let's get the hell off of this planet."
Without another word, the white and orange droid sped off towards the inside of the Star Destroyer but didn't get that far ahead when a figure with two large bags criss-cross over her chest and struggling to pull a sledge full of stuff started to gain shape.
Her shouts were carried away by a particularly strong gust of wind, that almost knocked her off her feet, through a hole in the side of the ship.
The rebels jogged up to meet her, but when Poe's eyes met hers they were filled with fear.
"It's okay, they're fine. They're part of the Resistance. They'll help us get to the X-Wings."
But the girl shook her head in denial and pulled out the walkie-talkie that had lost the connection with the base few days prior.
"They found us!"
"What?"
"I said they found us! The First Order. They cut off our communications because they knew we were here."
Poe was baffled. They had been very careful when landing, doing so specifically as far away as they had, just to not get on the radar of the Order. "How do you know this?"
"Because a squad of troopers just entered the back. Poe, we don't have ships anymore. They found them and blew it all up to bits."
"Shit!"
"Yes, it is, but we have to move, now!"
Poe was about to repeat what he had heard, not sure if the storm had allowed the rest to hear, but Cassian, Jyn and even K-2 were already hauling the med-bags up their shoulders and running towards their shuttle. Immediately Y/N, Poe and BB followed suit, but not before Y/N turned back to see if the Stormtroopers had emerged when her shoulder got grazed by a blaster shot.
Pain spread through her left side, with tingles even reaching her toes, but she only let out a hiss and a grunt.
"Naili!" Poe's voice rang ahead of her as the girl crouched down and reassembled her sniper in a second. "There is no time for this! Let's just leave, come on!"
"Not this time," Y/N murmured, "they won't get to us, not now."
She couldn't hear Poe's screams or even BB-8's loud whirring for her to go. Her eyes were trained over the horizon, this time the sand was actually too thick to see anything through. Six more shots sounded right next to her. Y/N aimed her gun towards the place they had come from and once again peeked through the lens and sure enough, two Stormtroopers emerged in their white uniforms.
The blasts cut clean through their heads and Y/N smirked as she jumped up, the rifle tight in her hand, jogging up to Poe, letting the three rebels sprint off to the shuttle.
"I'm in the lead now, Poe."
His eyes were comically large. "You're insane, that's what you are."
"And have I ever disagreed with you on that?"
Before Poe could reprimand her for being reckless and a show-off, another blast whizzed past their heads, but they were right by the ship, making the beam bounce off in sparks.
BB-8 rolled into the shuttle and in the same second released wires with latches, as the spaceship jerked up, making Y/N and Poe fall to their knees, in hopes of not falling on their faces completely. They were about to collapse from exhaustion when General Leia's voice cut through the interior.
"All units, repeat all units, what is your status?"
"This is Cassian Andor, captain of Rogue One. We have made contact with the rebels and are on our way to D'Qar."
"Negative, captain, I repeat negative. The Order has found out about D'Qar. Full force to Yavin4. We'll meet at the base and figure out our next step together. Mon Mothma has already granted access."
Y/N scrambled to her feet and pushed past to get to the comms. "This is commander Naili DeLaqour of the Gold Squadron. Gold Squadron come in, I repeat come in, what is happening?"
The voice of Lexi, her second in command answered. "Evacuation is in process. The Blue Squadron noticed that the First Order ships had made great advances in where they were looking for us. When your communications got cut off they were sent out to Jakku on a scouting mission, when an ambush happened. General Leia has instructed us to move to Yavin4. Everyone should rendezvous there in fifteen hours."
Poe clutched Y/N forearm as he made sure his own squadron was safe and instructed them to keep in contact with the Rogue One ship if anything happened.
"General," he continued, "we have the supplies and the information. With our current status, we should be on Yavin4 in six hours."
"Give them to Mon Mothma, she'll know what to do."
"Copy that."
But before they could hang up Leia's voice once again cut through. "Commander Delaqour?"
"Still here."
"Has he made any sort of contact?"
Y/N stilled. "No, General," she gulped, "he hasn't. Not since the last time."
There was a slight pause. "Good. We'll see you at the base to discuss strategy."
"Copy. Commander Delaqour out."
The girl stepped back from the control panel. The last question had shaken her up more than anticipated, and because of that, she hadn't noticed that her shawl had uncovered her face. She hadn't noticed the man in the pilot-seat looking at her with large confusion filled eyes. She hadn't noticed Jyn's shocked yet stoic face, but most importantly she hadn't noticed Cassian looking at her with tears in his eyes until his rugged palm gently captured her cheek as he whispered her name, her real name, with so much love and hope it snapped her out of the daze.
"Y/N..."
