Cassian was fuming. He stalked across the grass of the forest, making his way to the hangars and then to the rebel quarters. He didn't see Y/N as he walked, though he hoped to spot the girl either by the X-Wings or with the General, but she was nowhere to be seen.
"It's fine, she didn't leave," the man was calming himself down, as his feet finally touched the stone floor of the corridor. The captain made his way first towards Bodhi's place, hoping to find Y/N there, but as before she wasn't with the shy rebel. Then he went to their quarters, but just the same the girl wasn't there. She'd vanished like a ghost and panic almost immediately settled into his bones, but then he heard movement in the next room. The room that was hers and hers only.
A deep sigh escaped Cassian as he realised what had happened. He could only hope she wouldn't shut the man out. Especially knowing her fight-or-flight instincts. He quickly pulled on some pants and a T-Shirt, the days on Akiva were still just as humid and hot, filled with thunderstorms as they had been when first coming here.
Exiting the room he caught a glance of Y/N, still in her pyjamas as she briskly walked away towards Bodhi's room, not even acknowledging Cassian. He wanted to go to her. He wanted to scoop the girl up in his arms and kiss every inch of her body, to prove how much he loved and trusted her, but it would seem Y/N would have none of it. So he did the only possible thing his mind could come up with- find Poe and kill him.

The fellow rebel's room was further way down, but close enough that it took Cassian only two minutes with the pace he was walking in. Those two minutes allowed for some colourful ideas to appear of how to disembody Poe, maybe ask Rey for her lightsaber, carve in his thoughts of the guy.
He rounded the corner, eyes immediately finding Dameron's room. Cassian was just about to knock when it swung open and the shock that overtook his body, legs cementing in place, made all of his thoughts disappear.
"Jyn?"
The girl was wearing her usual clothes she sported while not on a mission or repairing their ship, but the most prominent thing was a matching love-bite on her neck. Her wide eyes echoed Cassian's surprise, having not expected to find the captain there.
"Is that what this is about? You and... Poe?" it felt strange to say it. It didn't feel as if it was wrong- their personalities matched, complimented one another, but it was very unexpected.
"Andor?" it was Poe's voice ringing from behind Jyn, drawing Cassian's attention away from Jyn's face to the other man's and in an instant, the anger of the fact that Poe had hurt Y/N came back.
"You. I'm going to kill you," he pushed Jyn to the side as he walked in Poe's room. The other rebel had his hands up as if in surrender. "I'm going to find the Death Star plans, I'm going to build a Death Star, then I'm going to put you on a planet and blow it up."
"Hey, wow, take it easy, I-"
"Take it easy? Do you know how much you hurt her," he turned to look at Jyn, "both of you? She thinks no one trusts her, that we're pushing her away."
The woman's shoulders dropped as she made her way back inside from where she was standing by the door. "That wasn't our intention."
"Well that is what happened, intended or not. She feels like an outcast."
Poe groaned as he fell back on the bed, both palms running over his rugged face. "I screwed up real bad, didn't I?"
"Bad would be an understatement."
"Don't put all of this on yourself, Poe," Jyn butted in the conversation, plopping down on a chair that stood in a corner. "I'm half of the fault too."
The trio fell into silence. Cassian was still trying to wrap his mind around the fact that Jyn had been sleeping, or maybe even dating Poe, for Maker only knows how long. Poe was trying to not fall into self-loathing as he attempted to figure out a way to redeem himself in Y/N's eyes and Jyn was contemplating what that meant for their friendship.
The girls had grown so much closer since Y/N's recovery, since knowing how much the rebel had sacrificed for everyone else, Jyn was afraid it would completely ruin what they had.
"How long has this- whatever the two of you are- been going on?" Cassian's voice was quiet, almost solemn as his mind wouldn't stop replaying Y/N's broken looking face.
Jyn's reply knocked the air out of Cassian. "Four months."
"And what is... this?"
Poe looked at the girl sitting in the corner, her short hair obscuring her features, but even without seeing her face he could still make out the furrowed brows and the concentrated gaze.
"I don't know...," she looked up at Poe who wasn't denying anything. There was no hurt in her eyes as the woman herself didn't really understand what they were. "We started foolin' around the same time Y/N regained the last big bits of her memories. It just sorta happened... and then it didn't stop. And now we're kinda dating, I guess."
"So I presume Y/N walked in on you two?" Cassian was leaning on Poe's bedside table, needing something to help him balance. The man felt like a fool for not seeing what was right underneath his nose. It wasn't any of his business, the private lives of his friends, but knowing Y/N, knowing how much it would mean to her to see one of the most important people in her life happy and to see Jyn being able to accept someone like that... Cassian understood why she felt so hurt, especially with what she had had to leave behind just so her family could be safe.
"Yeah," Poe hung his head in defeat. "I forgot that we had made plans to go for a run earlier this morning and apparently she decided to come and wake me up herself."
"It's been a third of a year," Cassian spoke up, remembering that on Akiva a year counted as twelve months. "Why didn't you say anything? Especially to Y/N?"
"We were afraid."
"Of what?"
"Afraid that it wouldn't work out," it was Jyn who replied, standing up and crossing her arms over her chest. "Afraid that something like what happened between you and Y/N could happen to us."
"Kylo Ren was only after her because of her Force abilities. Last I recall, neither of you possess any. Or is that another secret you've been hiding?"
"Jezz, Cassian, no, of course not!" Poe stood up from the bed, hands on his hips as he tried to pull himself together. "But you have to understand, okay? This thing- we really want it to work, and... people talk, things happen. You should know it better than anyone."
"Yeah, I understand," Cassian emphasised the second word. "But I also understand why Y/N would feel the way she does. After all," he turned to look at Jyn, "she gave everything up for us to have a chance at happiness."
With that, the captain left his fellow rebels to ponder over his words. The anger had dissipated, yet he still didn't appreciate what Poe and Jyn, of all people, had done to a person all of them held to the highest degree and loved without any boundaries.
Cassian returned to his and Y/N's room, well, for the time being just his room and sat down on the bed to think about what had transpired in the last two hours. People had started to wake up and go about their daily business, Sun climbing up higher and higher in the sky. And he knew that as a captain he still had duties to fulfil and he should be going to the command centre, where Y/N would most likely be too, overlooking her squadrons progress on a reconnaissance mission. But the only thing Cassian wanted to do was fall face first into his pillow, wrap the duvet around and sleep the rest of his life away.
With a groan he pulled himself out of the comfort of the sheets and stripped down bare, his feet padding over the carpeted floor until they reached the cold tiles of the bathroom. Turning the water to the coldest setting Cassian slightly jumped out of the stream's path only to fully submerge himself when his skin got used to the cold. Fingers reaching for the shampoo he quickly washed his hair and the rest of his body.
Cassian let out a sigh as he heard the holo-pad go off, indicating he was needed. Grabbing a towel he ruffled it through his hair while making his way back into the bedroom. From a large closet, courtesy of living with Y/N, since they would have to share it, he pulled out a clean T-shirt and dark jeans. His brown eyes saddened noticing the absence of Y/N's clothes, but a smile quirked his lips up as he couldn't find a black tank top. It had been there just yesterday after they'd done the washing, so the only explanation was that Y/N had grabbed it.
The holo went off once again, this time a blue light accompanying the message. URGENT, it read. Cassian pulled a hand through his hair, trying to smooth out the mess, bits of water still dripping down his back. His tan fingers grabbed the pad from the nightstand and as he was about to open up the message, loud knocking invaded his senses.
In an instant he pressed his palm again the glass square and the metal slid open, revealing a frantic Y/N. Relief flooded his body while taking in her appearance. She was clad in a white tank top and navy pants, a jacket tied around her waist while her feet sported her most beloved combat boots.
"What are you still doing here? Didn't you get the message? Come on!" she sprinted away towards the hangars but not before stopping by Bodhi's and rapping her knuckles.
"You too?" Cassian could hear her exasperation even from this distance. "Both of you, move! We're needed in the control rooms."
Bodhi looked over to his captain. There was a silent question passed between the two as it seemed neither knew what was going on, but they moved in sync as the men closed their quarters and jogged after Y/N.
"Y/N, love, what is going on?" Cassian called after her, feet carrying him into the open space before the hangars, Bodhi hot on his trail and as his gaze roamed around the base, it seemed like there wasn't a person that didn't look just as frantic as Y/N or wasn't shouting out orders.
"Shit's gone down. That's what." Without a second to spare she rushed inside the command centre, which wasn't in any better shape than the outside. People were shouting, running around, carrying stacks of documents and swiping on their holos left and right. In the middle of all the chaos General Leia, Mon Mothma and Y/N were talking, the latter's hands vigorously moving around as they were explaining things and she looked not too happy to hear them.
"General, Mon Mothma," Bodhi and Cassian simultaneously greeted the two older women. Y/N was chewing on her thumb, exasperation clear as day written all over her face.
"Okay, but what if we send out drones to track them? I mean they should be able to fly under the Order's radar," Y/N didn't even pick up her gaze as the rest of their team gathered around, just as confused as Cassian was. Her body tensed when Poe and Jyn entered the room, though she didn't acknowledge either one.
"Unfortunately, commander Y/L/N, we can't risk the Order intercepting the signal. They're too close to figuring it out already."
Cassian scanned the faces of the gathered people, eyes resting on Y/N's features that were deeply concerned. "Can someone please explain to us what is going on?"
"The Emerald Squadron, the Gold squadron, my people, and the Diamond squadron are stuck. They can't get home unless we want them to be killed by the First Order," Y/N's face was pulled in a grim expression as her Y/E/C scanned the files that had been put in front of her. "And it's a big problem not only because they're our friends, but also because they're carrying a person who knows where the Order will strike next. They can't contact us and we can't give them any help either. Unless..." her eyes sparkled as an idea popped into her head, "we go out there and bring them physically back ourselves."
"No, absolutely not, Y/L/N," General Leia dismissed her even before Cassian could rebuff how dangerous and absolutely insane that would be. He was not about to lose the girl, not again. "First of all, I can't risk you getting captured. Again. Or to put anyone else in a deadly situation, second of a-"
"General," she interrupted the older woman, "is it true that the information the defector is carrying could not only allow us to get two steps ahead of the Order but also bring it down? Once and for all?"
Leia gave Y/N a levelled gaze, before sighing. "Yes," came the one worded answer.
"Then please, give us a chance to end it. All of it."
She was looking at Y/N, fear and love, passion for the cause and pride, so much pride shining in those hazel eyes as the girl that had become like a daughter to her, willing to do anything if that meant saving their home, pleaded for a chance to save the people that had relied on her command as well as others. So much like she had been.
"You're not going alone."
Cassian responded before Y/N could reply with a sarcastic remark. "Not even in her wildest dreams."
