So apparently people liked Sam so much that y'all are commenting that you'd rather have him than Levi? Since I wrote this a really long time ago my writing style has changed but I'll write a one-shot to appease the Sam lovers in this book. I've been tempted to rewrite this but I made it long and it has some plot holes, and I'm lazy so it would take a long time.
Enjoy this and if you like this writing style then maybe check out my other Levi x Reader I'm working on called Gang Wars. ✌️

The young teen worked on rewriting the contents of the old book into a new one

The young teen worked on rewriting the contents of the old book into a new one. This was in a time where they were free from the walls, when they didn't even adventure outside the forest. All they worried about was if it was going to be cold that night or not.

It was a simple life.

(Y/n) stretched her arms up, popping her black lightly. She remained undisturbed until a man gently grabbed her stretched out arms, slightly scaring her.

"Jesus, Sam! Don't sneak up on me." She turned to meet her friend. He has a gentle smile resting on his face. He apologized in a gentle tone before sitting beside her.

He looked at the pages, then out the window, "the sun is barely up, so how are you awake?" His scruffy looking hair fell in front of his face, covering his gentle blue eyes.

She reached over to fix it for him, running her fingers through his hair. It felt surprisingly soft, and had a light scent of pine trees. "This book was getting old. I won't be able to read the title if it gets withered out. So to pass some time I decided that it would be fun to transfer the words to this book."

"Pass some time? How long have you been awake?"

She hesitated, because if he knew then he wouldn't be too happy. Sam asked again, a little more insistent. (Y/n) leaned over and put her head on his shoulder, "I couldn't sleep." Same knew that everyone had habits of this. Sometimes he had to convince the twins to relax and close their eyes after they stayed up two days in a row.

Insomnia gets the best of them different times of the year. Sam also had the same issue. "Well then wake me next time. I can make you tea or keep you company?"

She shook her head, "You need your beauty sleep."

They both let out little chuckles at the sentence.

"I'm not Travis."

They kept chatting until Sam patted her head, a simple signal that it was time for her to sleep. She agreed and sat up. "I don't want to get up." Like a small child she gave him little puppy dog eyes.

He was weak to them, as he was to all of her requests. In a different civilization at a different time, people might have called him a simp. But he was simply falling in love with his best friend who had no idea.

Sam smiled and picked her up, one arm under her knees and the other supporting her back. "Let's get you to bed," he muttered as he hoped she wouldn't feel the fast beating of his nervous heart.

He carried her all the way to her bedroom, gently placing her down on the bed. "Thank you Sam," she felt relaxed and tired enough to fall into a slumber. Sam covered her with a blanket, then a gentle kiss to her forehead.

"Goodnight (Y/n)."

By the time the sun was in the sky, (Y/n) was up once again and running in the fields, looking for the perfect daisies. Sam watched from afar. He set his sky gear to the side and stretched. The others were hunting in different areas together. This area was fairly safe so the two of them could relax.

"(Y/n), what are you doing?" He asked as he slowly followed her. She had almost two dozen daisies with long stems in her hands. The girl called him over to help collect them.

He took over holding the ones collected, the gentle giant of a man made sure to not squish the petals. She found some that had a light taint of purple, saying that "these were the ones kissed by the sun."

Sam and (Y/n) later sat down to braid them into flower crowns. "We should make sure to make the twins flower crowns that are a little different. Also, you're doing it wrong." She quickly stopped him, and showing him the start of it again. "You take the first one and take this one, wrap it under then over. You need to make sure the flowers are tight together."

He smiled gently as she led his fingers in the exercise. Her fingers were small and gentle, compared to his. As the group of teens mature, they began to differ and grow. He was almost twice her height and his body was growing, voice lowering. Mind wandering to what it would be like to be lifelong partners with his best friend.

She on the other hand grew differently. So did the other girls, and they became a little more secretive with their 'girl problems' or 'girls night with no boys.' But it wasn't much privacy because they all live with thin walls and right next to each other.

Sam wasn't as bulky as Travis and he wasn't as brave. With growth came with anxiety. Only being with her did it lessen. "(Y/n), I have something to tell you." The (c) haired girl looked up to him with gentle (c) eyes.

"Yes?"

"I um.." he sighed and wiped his sweaty hands on his pants. "I like you, (Y/n)."

Tilting her head in confusion, "I like you too." It was a simple feeling to her. She liked all her friends. Loved them. They were family.

"I know, I just," he didn't want to push his feelings on to her before she was ready. If she didn't get it then maybe one day she would. "I just wanted to tell you that."

"Thanks Sam." Her cheeks turned a shade of pink, but that's as far as it has gotten. They continued on with the sound of the forest around them. The gentle evening came to a fold as she set the large flower crown on top of his head.

She laughed. "Now put your hands up like this?" Sam did so, making her laugh a little more, "you're so cute!"

This made Sam blush deeply, he quickly covered his face and turned away. (Y/n) was concerned why he suddenly turned, but Sam didn't show his tomato red face to his crush.

"Thanks, (Y/n)."
