Rey was walking through the campus when it began to rain. Little droplets of water drenched her hair, skin, and dress. The water droplets began growing larger and falling frequently. The light 'pitter patter' of rain turned into wet thuds as the icy water raced to meet the ground and soon enough, the sprinkling had turned into a torrential downpour. Rain fell in crazy chaotic drops, the gusting wind carrying them in wild vortices one moment and in diagonal sheets the next. It ran down Rey's face as a thin layer, the coldness seeping through her thin dress and chilling her skin. She dropped her rucksack from her shoulders and delved through it, scrambling desperately for her umbrella. She opened it and took shelter underneath, shielding her from the sudden stormy weather.
When Rey reached her destination, the coffee shop, she shook her umbrella and rushed inside. She smiled as she felt the warmth hit her instantly, coursing through her blood and thawing her freezing body.
As Rey walked towards the counter, she was glad to see that her favourite barista was working that day.
"Good morning, Rey!" Kevin said, looking at her as he passed a customer their drink. "I hear congratulations are in order!"
Rey started squeezing the rainwater out of her hair. "Congratulations? What for?"
"Well, I heard you auditioned for the upcoming play!" Kevin shouted over the whirring coffee machine.
Rey giggled. "Yeah, but I haven't actually got a part yet... the cast list went up this morning and I still need to check it."
"I just know you'll do great." Kevin said, reaching into a cabinet and pulling out a cardboard cup.
"I hope so." Rey sighed. "Anyways... could I please get the-"
"The usual?" Kevin said with a wink, placing a steaming cup of coffee on the counter in front of her. "Way ahead of you."
"You know me so well."
Rey took the coffee in her hands and the first milky sip creeped over her taste-buds and down her throat. After only a few minutes she was bathing in the kick of the caffeine.
As she said goodbye to Kevin and turned to leave, someone sitting by the window caught her eye. To anyone else in the shop, this person would have simply looked like a tall man with black hair drinking his morning coffee. But Rey knew exactly who it was immediately.
Rey walked towards him. "Hey, Kylo."
Kylo barely made eye contact with her. He seemed to be very focused on watching the raindrops on the window. "Good morning."
"Have you heard?" Rey said, planting herself in the chair opposite him. This caused him to face his attention to her.
"Heard what?"
"The cast list is up."
Kylo took a long sip from his cup, swallowing and exhaling loudly. "Ah, yes. I was actually just about to head off and check it." He said, standing up and straightening his scarf.
"Oh, you were?" Rey asked. "So was I. We could walk together if you'd like. I have an umbrella."
Rey wasn't quite sure why she was being so nice to Kylo. Yes she was a very friendly person, but never did she visibly go out of her way to offer help to someone who wasn't a friend of hers. She brushed it off and reminded herself that Kylo had taken care of her when drunk, and that she was simply repaying the favour.
A look of pleasant surprise flashed across Kylo's face. "Sure. It beats getting drenched."

When Kylo and Rey finally reached the school building, they rushed inside and took a moment to relish the warmth. Their walk through campus was serene. Although it was loud, due to the pelting of the rain, and they could hardly hear a word the other was saying, it was just the two of them and Kylo enjoyed that very much.
