Chapter 19

"Ngiti ngiti now, iyak iyak later." Rhea spoke.

"Heh!" I glared at her.

We're talking about the happenings last Saturday. We're still the head topic in IG. People went crazy just to know what's the real score between me and Rhys.

The Band lead vocalist named Rhys Aiden Prieur and Aestrea Aveleigh Vinstel the granddaughter of the Province governor rumored to be dating.

Dinaig pa namin ang mga artista nito. Headline kami sa CIN (Convallaria Island News).

"Hays, you two look perfect together! Kahit ako kinikilig sa inyo." Rheniel said while giggling.

"Agree. Label na lang kulang." Jaime said and then they burst into laughter.

We're sitting here in the cafeteria. Munching our snacks. Rhys had basketball practice. Malapit na ang intrams kaya mamaya magpipili yung coach sa basketball kung sino ang makakapasok sa team. Mamayang hapon manonood kami ng basketball practice nila Rhys. May orientation pa kami bago ang basketball practice nila Rhys kaya baka matagalan. Hahabol na lang kami mamaya pagkatapos ng orientation.

I felt exhausted after 2 hours of class in Arch2. Parang naubos lahat ng lakas ko dun. I texted the girls that I'm already here outside the basketball court. Hindi natuloy yung orientation kaya may klase kami sa Arch2. Parang wala na tuloy mapipiga sa utak ko.

"So, it's true huh? What you want is what you get. Ibang klase din naman ang landi mo no?" Agatha said while raising her right brow.

"Anong panlalandi ba ang ginawa mo kay Rhys? Gusto din namin matutunan, effective eh." Theena said and then they all laughed.

I just rolled my eyes.

Sorry, ganda lang.

I felt an arm snaked around my waist and pulled me closer. Agatha and Theena stopped laughing. I looked up. I saw Rhys glaring at them. He told me to go inside the basketball court. He walked beside me as his arms still on my waist.

"Don't mind them." He muttered.

"Pero hinihintay ko sila Rheniel, Rhea at Jaime dun." I protested.

"You can text them. Tell them you're waiting for them here inside."

I did what he told me. He gestured me to sit down and I obliged. He sat beside me.

"I don't want anyone to tell you some hurtful statements. Totoo man yun o hindi. Because you don't deserve it."

"Wala naman akong pakealam sa sinasabi nila. Bakit naman ako maaapektuhan sa mga sinasabi nila? Hindi naman totoo ang mga yun. Kaya nga hinahayaan ko lang kasi alam ko sa sarili ko na hindi iyon totoo."

He smiled at me.

"That's my girl." He said while caressing my hair. I froze from what he said.

My girl.

There goes my heart again. Beating loudly and rapidly. He's giving me a heart attack.

I looked at him and his gaze never leaving mine.

I heard a fake cough.

"Hi, hello. Kanina pa kami dito. Oo. Hindi niyo napansin, ano?" Rhea said sarcastically. Then she smiled at us.

They were sitting at the chair on our back. I didn't notice them. When did they arrive? Am I that too focused on Rhys that's why I didn't notice them entering the basketball court?

"Nagpapakitang gilas ah." Rheniel commented.

Nanonood kami ng basketball nila Rhys. Panay kasi shoot niya.

"Rhys mo oh, parang siya mapipili na team captain." Rhea said.

"Magaling naman talaga siya." Jaime added.

I remained silent. My eyes never leaving a sight on Rhys. I was watching him. Only him. Ang galing niya talaga. Panay 3 points. I clapped my hands as he shoots the ball.

Rhys was picked as a basketball team captain for the Department of Engineering and Architecture. Jax was also in the first five.

"Hey." He sat beside me and greeted my friends.

Sweat is dripping off from his forehead.

"Pawis mo oh." I told him.

He searched for his handkerchief from his bag beside him.

"Can you wipe it off for me?" He told me and then he handed me his handkerchief.

I accepted the handkerchief and started to wipe his sweat on his face.

He's staring at me while I'm wiping his face. I saw his lips slightly tugged up.

I heard soft giggles from my side.

"How long have you been single?" He asked me.

"More than a year."

"Sorry if I made you wait for me that long." He chuckled.

Natawa na rin ako. Muntanga naman eh!

"We have a gig later. Sasama ka?" He asked me.

"Sure. Anong oras ba?"

"7 pm. I'll pick you up later." He turned to face my friends. "Wanna come and join us?" He asked them.

"Sorry, I can't. May activity pa akong sasagutan mamaya sa Ethics with Taxations." Jaime said.

"Me too. May reporting ako bukas sa Financial Management." Rhea said.

"Me, available ako mamaya." Rheniel told us.

"Sabay ka na lang samin mamaya, Rhen." I told her.

"Magpapaalam na agad ako." She told us. She started to type something on her phone.

We separated ways. They went home early while I and Rhys went to a newly opened snack house. They offered various kinds of snacks with a twist. It excites me a lot, knowing that we'll try something new and exciting today. He opened the door and gestured me to go inside. He holds my hand as we entered the snack house. My mouth watered when I saw the foods they offered. He guided me to sit on the vacant seat.

"What do you want to eat?" He asked me.

"Anything." I answered him. Hindi naman ako mapili sa pagkain. Basta usapang pagkain.

He smiled at me before going to the counter. Nang makabalik siya ay puno na ng pagkain ang bitbit niyang tray. Inilapag niya lahat ng inorder niya sa mesa. Fries with chocolate syrup. Lumpia with melted mallows and chocolate fillings. Strawberry and pandan flavored pancake. I love the food they offered. It's unique and tastes good. We started devouring our food. Rhys laughed when I noticed him taking a picture of me while I'm busy eating my food. I glared at him but he just laughed at my reaction. He took a picture of us. Lumapit ako sa kanya ng konti para hindi siya mahirapan kumuha ng litrato namin. We both smiled at the camera. We do different poses.

He wiped the smudged lipstick at the corner of my lips. Nagkalat siguro dahil sa katakawan ko kumain. When we finished eating, he holds my hand and guided me out of the snack house. He opened the door of his car for me. He turned after I sat at the passenger seat. Inayos ko ang seatbelt ko at ganun din ang ginawa niya. After that, he started the car engines and then he maneuver the car.
