I'm participating in Countdown to Christmas this year! I love reading all the Christmas themed oneshots and the hermittpad recap came up with some awesome prompts. 

Day one prompt: Picking out a Christmas Tree

Featuring: Joe and Cleo!

 "Joe! How long are ya gonna take in there?!" Cleo impatiently tapped her foot outside the hermit zoo, showcasing exhibits for all the hermits. 

 "Well you see Cleo-" Joe inhaled, ready to make a huge speech about how time doesn't exist and all.

 "JOE! WE DON'T. HAVE. TIME FOR THIS!! THE OTHER HERMITS ARE DEPENDING ON US TO GET THE TREE!!" 

 Joe ran out of the exhibits, frightened of an angry Cleo. "Alright, alright, I'm comin'!"

 Cleo laughed at his expression and the two rushed to boat to the forest where they were planning on finding a tree. They carefully scrutinized every tree for blemishes, broken branches, infected leaves, or animals. 

 "Ooh, Joe! That one is perfect!"

 " What? No! That tree clearly contains a bird's nest, meaning we'd be choppin' down its home! Would you like to be gifted with the present of homelessness this cold, cold winter?"

 "Fine, fine!"

 The two went back and forth, bickering about trees and other subjects for an hour. They couldn't find a single tree that they both liked. Either it was 'too short' or 'too tall' or 'too infested with spiders Cleo what is wrong with you why would you want that one-'. 

Finally, after four hours of wandering in the forest, they found the perfect tree. They both clasped their hands in joy and Joe even teared up a bit until Cleo told him he was being overdramatic. It truly was perfect though. Except, the two realized one tiny detail they forgot about. 

 "HOW ARE WE GONNA TRANSPORT THIS THING??!!" 

 And that, my friends, is how Joe and Cleo ended up lugging a huge Christmas tree in a tiny little boat. And yes, the boat did capsize. Multiple times in fact, but the pair was used to chaos so it was fine.
