Knocks escape from the door as I close my journal. By the time I do I hear the door open and I quickly pick up my head meeting Nik's eyes. "Heda's requested you," he said stepping back into the hall, but keeps the door open. I bite my lip and shove the journal into my bag before sliding out of the bed and slipping on my shoes. After that I head to the door and walk out spotting Nik waiting patiently.
We begin walking but my mind runs rapid. Last night was confusing but felt right. It was weird when Lexa came in and kneeled before me. I'm pretty sure I should've kneeled before her seeing as she is the commander of thirteen clans now. But what she said, something changed inside of her almost. I know she's always cared for me, but now it seems like she doesn't care what her people think of her. Rather...Maybe just maybe she feels the same for me as I do her. I have yet to tell her and about that dream. Or...I don't know if it was a dream. But the phrase Ai hod yu in keeps repeating in my head. I never did ask what it means but I'm scared too and I'm surprised I can even say it. Though I have been practicing Trigedasleng. It's a difficult language but I've got somethings down, I think. I try to ease drop on Nik or some of the other grounders in the town. It's slow learning but it's something for the time being.
I pick my eyes up from the ground finding myself and Nik at the throne room. I clench my jaw as I walk in seeing kids sitting around at the foot of Lexa. I walk in and stand off to the side where Titus stands. Surprisingly he doesn't speak to me. He doesn't speak much to me anymore. Thank god.
"Chit are thri pillars kom ste a Heda(What are the three pillars of being a Commander)?" I hear Lexa ask. My eyes focus on her as she looks to, whom I'm assuming, the nightbloods.
"Noun (Wisdom)," one speaks.
"Fiyanes (compassion)," another says.
"En yuj (And strength)," a third one says. A small smile spreads to Lexa's lips as she nods her head.
"Lev op hard en mema in yu are worthy kom bilaik natblida (Train hard and remember you are worthy of your nightblood)," Lexa said just as Titus speaks up and he claps his hands causing me to jump. A gentle sigh escapes my lips as my eyes watch Titus walk towards the door with the nightbloods following him. It's not till I hear Lexa say, "Aden stay" that I turn and look to Lexa. There Aden stands to the side with his head held high and Lexa who stands in front of me with a smile on her lips.
"Y/N, you remember Aden right?" Lexa questions and I nod my head looking to the boy. "He's my most promising novitiates. If I should die today he is likely to succeed me." I tilt my head to the side confused as to why Lexa said If I should die today like it's a possibility. "Aden, tell Y/N what will happen if you are to become Heda."
"I pledge my loyalty to the thirteenth clan and to make sure you're safe," Aden says, looking directly at me. I clench my jaw, fear rising up inside of me.
"Thank you," Lexa says, smirking at me before turning to the boy. "Now go join the others." Out of the corner of my eye I see the boy bow and turn, heading towards the door. I stay quiet for a moment hearing the doors open and an extra pair of shoes exit the room leaving me and Lexa alone. "You don't need to panic-"
