Everything she tought she knew... is a lie. The lie glitching, about to be torn apart by the truth.

---

I roll over in bed the next morning to look at Shawn, but he's not asleep next to me. I open my eyes and feel the empty space next to me to make sure he's not there.

The handcuffs of last night are on the ground along with my lingerie, but Shawn's clothes are gone.

'Shawn?' I climb out of bed, grab a bathrobe and walk to the living room.

The living room is empty, so is the kitchen and every other room in my apartment. I decide to call him.

It's seven in the morning and there is no sign of Shawn. He doesn't pick up. I call again...

Nothing.

When I look down the hall, his shoes and all his jackets are gone. My heart starts to beat a little faster.

I quickly walk to the bathroom, looking in the mirror for a second before opening the cabinet behind it.

Empty.

He took his toothbrush, his shaving stuff, everything. All there is left is one red rose with a small heart carved into the petal on the place where he used to put his toothbrush.

My chest feels weird... like someone just scooped a part of me out of it.

Aristo follows me everywhere I go and I kiss him onto his forehead before deciding to leave. The big smile on his face when I look into his bright blue eyes warm my heart.

I decide to change my clothes. What if he just went to Amsterdam? He wouldn't leave me like this... right? I need to take Aristo with me, but I can't. I'll walk him when I get back.

An hour later I arrive in Amsterdam, parking my brand new car in front of his door without thinking about the consequences. I use my key to open his front door and when I enter his living room I see empty beer bottles everywhere.

A drunk guy walks down the stairs and almost falls. I grab his arm to keep him from falling. He smiles at me, mumbling something nice before he frowns.

'Who are you? And how the hell did you get in?' He asks.

'I'm Shawn's girlfriend. Is he here?'

He starts to laugh and frowns again, seeing I'm serious.

'Mr Mendes rented this place to us two weeks ago. He is gone. I have no idea where he might be. We signed a contract and all.' He looks sorry and I let go of his arm when I'm sure he can stay on his feet by himself.

It feels like he just put his hand through my chest and ripped my heart out.

I thank him quickly before walking away and leaving the apartment. Before I close the door behind me I drop the small key onto the ground, pushing the tears away.

I walk to my car. A big fine placed under the wiper of my windshield. I jank it away and tear it apart before stepping inside and starting the engine, driving back to The Hague.

It's probably nothing. He... he must have a reason to rent his place and take all his stuff from my apartment. There must be an explanation...

Just forget about it Elizabeth, he'll turn up...

I drive home and suddenly remember that Zayneb is arriving today. With everything that happened two weeks ago, we decided it would be better if she came to the Netherlands a little later and today is that day.
