The second I woke up I did nothing. The second after I woke up I groaned and muttered, "You can say 'I told you so' now."
"I told you so." I opened my eyes to see Obi-Wan next to my bed. Kix strode in.
"Is she awake? Yes? With all due respect, that was incredibly stupid." I interrupted him.
"Yeah, yeah, but what happened exactly? I was talking with Fives and then I passed out."
"Yeah, he caught you and carried you here. He saw you settled, told me what happened, took a bacta pack, and left." He gave me an admiring look. "Did you really bleach his hair?
"Naturally. One does not mess with me and not get messed with." Obi-Wan coughed. Kix went back into medic mode.
"You need to learn how to either get out when you are at your limit, or not draw on the Force." He was stern.
"Yeah, but if I lost to Fives, he'd never let me see the end of it."
"REGARDLESS. Though I understand that."
Obi-Wan stood up. "If you're all right, I'm going to get back to the bridge. I just came to check in on you, my padawan." I nodded. He left.
Kix cleared his throat. "I, uh, need to ask you a few questions about your biology. Strictly from a medic point of view. I got your species from the General, but all the data says is that... they're..."
"Extinct." I finished softly.
"Yeah. And if you're going to be in the infirmary constantly, I need to know some basic info."
I hauled together my courage, and in a stronger voice, said, "Shoot." He nodded.
"Lavender skin? Why?"
"Honestly, we- I- don't know. It's either for camouflage or from what we eat, which is purple for camouflage. Everything is purple on my planet."
"I see. Do your fangs have any properties beyond being sharp?"
"Yes, actually. One drop of my venom will take out a fully grown Trandoshan. They were constantly hunting us for their little hunting expedition thing. For sport. They stopped once we developed the venom. It only stings for most other species." He was writing everything down. Good, I won't have to repeat myself.
"Okay. Do your top horns have any special properties?"
Okay. Here we go. "No. They don't. The color..." My voice faltered. "The color is for the clan. There are six clans, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. I am orange. We called the clan Red-Yellow though. The side horns can sense the toxicity levels of the air. We were a mining people, our tunnels went so far down that sometimes toxic gas from the planet's core would seep into the mines. We developed the ability through natural selection.
"The color is for family, a unit within the clan. One color for each of the six values. There are six families per clan, and there are six clans. Families are huge though, therefore so are clans. The six values are courage, compassion, patience, perseverance, wisdom, and cleverness. All Shola try to be all of them, but also focus on their family's in particular."
He nodded. "Anything else I should know? Mental things? Mating things, maybe, though that shouldn't be a problem, Jedi."
"Sort of..." This would be hard. I took a deep breath. "Shola were intensely loyal to each other. We protected each other with everything we had. We would fight to defend each other until the last man, and then the last one would kill themself because death was better than a life without your family, your clan. Death was preferable to spending your life knowing you failed." I looked at Kix bleakly. "I was six. I couldn't do anything." I took a shuddering breath. "Anything else?"
