The day of our camp arrived, and I couldn't be happier than I'm now... Suna walked with me to the bus station, all my teammates welcomed me then we entered the bus. Who sits with me was Rintaro, we choose a movie to watch, well, that was the plan but we slept 30 minutes later.
When we arrived, Kita divided our rooms, I would stay with Osamu, Rin and... Atsumu, I guess we can be fine, it's still dawn so we went to our rooms to get some rest. The room has two bunks, Rin and Samu would sleep on the top while I and Atsumu would stay with the bottom bunk.
"If anyone wake up before me, don't even try to wake me up, good night angels" I turned off my lights and laid my head on the pillow
"How lovely" Rintaro sarcastic said
I woke up, and my roommates were still sleeping, I'll walk around, probably when I come back they'll have changed their clothes than I'll change mine... Before I could left, Tsumu woke up rubbing his eyes
"Where are you going, Kari?" I can see he's still sleepy
"I'll take a walk while you change your clothes Miya" he nodded, I don't give a shit if he doesn't like to be called by his surname, then I left the lodging, I looked around and the sound of nature is pretty refreshing, I missed the wildlife...
10 minutes later I come back to my room, my friends and Atsumu were ready
"You can go eat without me, I'll change my clothes"
"But you'll get lost"
"Fun fact about me, I can easily get lost in the city, but never in the woods" I smirked and they nodded, I wore a tank top that Kita wouldn't scold me for wearing it and shorts then I went to the canteen to eat, the whole team was already there
"You're too late young lady" Kita said
"Well, I have to wait for those three lazy babies to finish, or you want me to change my clothes with them?"
"Don't even think about it" I nodded and started to eat, there was other groups besides us here, most of them were boys "Today, we're going to visit an old temple, we'll need to go through an old bridge, a guide will take us there" so, when we finished our breakfast, I take my backpack and we entered the woods
We were walking for 15 minutes than I saw a monkey, my instincts said that I need to get closer, so I walked in his direction, it was on the tree, so I climb on it
"Hikari where are you?" Akagi asked screaming my name
"Right here!" I screamed back, then they found my hanging on the tree, upside down with the monkey
"Hikari you looks like a wild animal, get out of here and come with us" I said goodbye to the monkey and did what Kita said "Now I have to keep my eyes on you"
"It's been years I don't see someone so familiar with the wildlife, do you enjoy walking through the forest little lady?" The old guide asked
"Yes, I'm used to hiking in wild places" he laughed, when we arrived at the old wooden bridge, it doesn't look like it's safe, but it's truly beautiful...
"Nobody ever died walking through it, right?" Aran asked worriedly.
"Anyone brought your phone? I want to take a photo here"
"Only me" Atsumu said "I can take it for you if you want" I nodded, we're not on good terms right now, but I really like this view...
"Hikari if you're going to do something so dangerous like this, let Atsumu hold your hand" Kita said and he shyly stranded his hand to me, I guess he's right. While Tsumu was holding my hand I look at him over my shoulder, I thanked him with a nod.
The old guy said it's completely safe and he sounds like a trustworthy person so I ran to the other side, I turned around and waved to my friends, they did the same but they were scared, minutes later we come back to our walking then...
"OH MY DEAR GOD" Ginjima screamed, I ran in his direction and I noticed he was facing a snake, I crouched and stand my hand to the animal and it crawled up my arm "Hikari what are you doing? it can hurt you"
"Don't worry, It's inoffensive" he still looked worried "I studied all the wildlife that lives in this wood, and bring different kinds of remedies if anything bad happens, this snake isn't poisonous and only kills small animals" I pat its head and let it go
"You did this?" Omimi asked and I nodded
"I was worried that something bad could happen with you so I needed to be prepared for the worst, by the way, there is a poisonous snake in this woods too, it's red, please be careful I don't want to suck the venom out of you"
"Impressive, you're such a smart girl, these guys are lucky to have you as a companion"
"We know that" they said in unison and we kept walking. We finally arrived at the old temple, it was so pretty, it's completely made with wooden plates. We prayed and took a rest, I sit on the ground and opened my bottle with icy tea, not too far away from me I noticed a little fox, I grabbed a snack in my backpack and called the animal to eat it, at first the fox didn't trust me but she walked in my direction anyway, after eating my food she started to sniff my hair, I guess she liked the color, then put her paws on my shoulder
"Hikari we should come back-" It was Rintaro, he saw the scene and started to laugh "What's your problem with animals? guys come here!" in seconds my teammates were next to me "We should make Hikari our mascot, even the foxes like her"
They teased me for minutes so we asked for our guide to take the photo with the fox, later we called her Shu. It was almost night so we left the temple to come back to our lodgings. Only when we sight our camp I felt how tired I was. We ate the dinner and laid beside a bonfire
I looked at the sky and felt a Deja vú of years ago
"Are you okay?" Osamu asked
"Yes, I'm just remembering things" He said to explain, my teammates were hearing too "When I was 11, I think, I was in a forest like this, it was night and full moon, I was looking at the view when my tutor asked what was the thing I most desired at the moment and I answered 'a sweet adventure, that lasts forever and keep my heart wild and free like what I feel when I'm in the court'"
"What do you mean by free?" he looked confused
"Let me in the gym, and I show you what that big word means" I smirked " I always knew a lot of places around the world but what I wanted was a place to know me, now I finally call somewhere home and for the first time I'm in the woods and not alone, my old me would find this adventure the most incredible one"
The director of the camp approached us saying that a game was about to start and there was a reward, we accepted the challenge, the monitor said that the person that recognizes the most of the constellations, would win, that's easy for me but I think it would be funnier watching my friends trying to do this.
Kita and Omimi were doing a good job, Aran too, but the rest of the team... Suna only said words from Star Trek, the Miya twins started to argue about the name of the constellation and both of them were wrong, Ginjima said Pullum without knowing the meaning - that means chicken in Latin - Akagi just created a constellation saying that looks like a fish, I laughed out loud seeing the situation
"I can see you're having fun watching us Hikari, you should try too" Akagi said, I agreed and in minutes I pointed 10 constellations "Not fair, you're too smart, your answers won't be considered" I giggled and my reward was free breakfast, they tried to disqualify me saying that people with less than 5"5' shouldn't participate, of course, they didn't hear them.
We showered then went back to our rooms, Samu was still sad for losing the reward
"Nobody prohibited me to share my food with you Samu..."
"You're the best Hikari" I laughed, then we turned off our lights to sleep
