"What's up with disturbing our little reunion?"
I had always been fascinated by how Rakim was able to ask what was going on and still make it very clear that he couldn't give two shits.
"That's my question, what's going on, Zara? I thought we were gonna meet at your apartment, but the door was open, I thought someone kidnapped you or shit like that! Then I see your phone, with that message on the display, so I come here, seeing you chill with the whole Mob!", he yelled, showing me the hospital's message. "Damn, big bro's movin' mad", Rakim laughed, and I shot him a glare that left him quiet.
"No, actually, talk...I think you and him gotta have a little conversation, Rocky", I said. "Like, right now?", they both asked at the same time, as if they knew this talk would come. "Yeah Rakim, break it down to him." To my surprise, on the Mob's faces, there were only satisfied smiles.
When Rakim started to explain, I leaned over to Ferg. "Why y'all got that goofy ass look on your faces?", I whispered. "Cause we know it's better without the constant hate and war, you don't know how much all my ni**as and I have been affected by the shit going on, for real", he whispered back.
"I didn't even shoot that friend of yours that died. I could never kill somebody, just look at me bruh", I heard my brother say.
"I'm sorry for everything I did to your apartment, Zack", Rakim apologized. "That's not even the problem. You wanted to take everything away from me, made Dan betray my trust for a shitload of money, and planned on killing my sister, all that while loving her?", he asked, clearly having to take in all the information. Rakim seemed to suffer under the disbelieving gaze of my brother and sighed. "Zack, I already told you I was sorry and I'll never pull off shit like that again in my life. I just didn't know how to deal with everything going on, you heard the whole fucking story, don't-" "Rakim, I'm not saying it was cool but it was for sure impressive, you fucking clown", my brother interrupted, laughing the way he always did back in the day at Big Mama's when shit was about to go down with Rakim and his friends. A huge smile broke out on Rakim's lips, as my brother pulled him into a hug, and when they let go, I could see that they both had watery eyes. "Ni**a why you crying", Rakim grinned, wiping his eyes. "Don't you act all tough now motherfucker", my brother laughed, wiping across his eyes as well, which made the room erupt in relieved laughter.
This was unreal.
But it was adding up.
Finally.
It was the way things were supposed to be.
This was the day peace began-for real, this time.
