A year later (a day before New Year's Eve)

I stand behind the counter while we're cleaning down because we're closing and tomorrow it's our day off because of New Year's. A lot is happening past year. In May, I graduated from college finally free from homework and studying. I've been applying for different types of clubs for a bartender and I ultimately found a job that I loved.

"Colby?"

"Yeah?" I looked at a girl with raven hair with hazel-brown eyes with plump lips.

"What are you doing the New Year's? Do you have any special plans or something?" She said as she picked up the chair, putting them upside down and placing them on a table after she just cleaned them.

"Mm. I'm not sure, Amber." I said, putting a clean water goblet on a black metal hanging bar glass rack in the ceiling of the bar. "Either hanging out with the boys while being a third wheel or Brennen dragged me to somewhere at the party while me being the third wheel."

Me and Amber have been best friends ever since I got this job. She has been working here for three years and she has been training me for a few weeks until I get a hang of it. I've been working here for about 4 months.

It feels nice to have a friend when Brennen is with Jake, so I don't have to feel like a third wheel and feel like I'm interrupting their love fest. But Amber hasn't met them yet. I keep inviting her for introducing them but she has been busy with her girlfriend and her spending time with her family.

The only thing we could hang out together is work but hopefully, we'll hang out when we don't have any work. Which I truly understand because everyone has their own lives to worry about. To me, I'm still single Pringle; ok, it's a bad joke. But I'm not complaining though because I don't know who I am attracted to.

Amber laughed at my joke about me being the third wheel because she knows that my only two best friends were in the relationship. She also knows about my past girlfriend who cheated on me and left me. It took me a while for moving on, Brennen and Jake are always inviting me for hanging out, so I won't be alone. Which I appreciated.

"I'm sure you'll meet someone in the New Year. If not, you can bother with your friend, Brennen."

I started laughing because we both know it was true. If I don't find anyone, I can annoy Brennen anyways. "Mm, that's true," I said, with a smiling big.

"But seriously Colbs. I'll sure you'll find someone who enjoys your company, all you have to do is be patient."

"I hope so, Amber." I continued putting the last glass away, so we can close up and be ready to go home. So our boss wants us to save our energy for celebrating the New Year. She can be a little bit stubborn. Me, Amber the employees both know that she can be soft but she kinda hates it because she thinks we're not working hard. I don't know about them but I think it's hilarious.

Later that day after I'm off work, I invite my two boys for hanging out in my room for the New Year. I was laying on my stomach as I'm on my bed, with Brennen and Jake who were also on my bed cuddling. I thought we were planning to spend time in my room in my apartment but Brennen has some plans.

"Seriously, Brennen!" I whined. "Can I just stay home, eat ice cream, and watch the ball drop from my TV."

"Not. You're not remaining in you're apartment, isolated on your New Year's Eve," Brennen said. He thinks he has a "brilliant" idea for this holiday. He and Kevin are planning to have an annual party this year; this time they rented out a Yacht. They told everyone that they want to do something different and they thought it been more fun if they had a party on a boat middle of the ocean.
