The next day.

I am currently at the entrance to the boat waiting on the boy who happens to be my date for the party, so we can celebrate New Year. I'm wearing a black button-down that's mostly unbuttoned, tucked into black blue, green, and- Black slacks. Brennen and Kevin want a theme fancier because they want a nice and simple sip on cocktails. Don't ask (because I don't know).

I told him that I could wait for him at the entrance, so he won't get lost or miss each others for most of the night. I looked around, there were a lot of people holding their drinks while they are talking to their date. They were laughing and had a great time. Most of the ladies wear beautiful ball gowns and most men wear tuxes. I said, 'most' because clothes don't have any genders.

I took Brennen and Jake's advice, I decided to go with them but I invited a boy and be my date this year. So, I won't be keep third-wheeling every year. I told them, they can go ahead and have fun while I'm waiting for my date, Brennen was hesitant at first but I insisted.

I glanced at the entrance and saw a blond boy wearing a heeled beige boot. He has on a dark brown thick skirt that ends right above his knees, and a black long-sleeved turtle neck tucked into that, with a small black bag in hand. I took my breath away because he honestly looks so amazing. He still looks the same as last year, with his blond, shining eyes and a smile on his face.

"Sorry, I'm late. The traffic is very crazy busy." He gigged. "Are you going to keep drooling or escort me into the party?"

"Right, sorry," I said. "It's nice to see you again." I smiled, and his hand grabbed my arm as my forearm across my stomach and walked into the party where my friends were.

My mind was completely off of my ex-girlfriend and focused on a boy who was right next to me. I don't even know his name or age; hell I don't even know anything about him because we meet last year and never spoke again until now. I am honestly glad that I texted him because I hate to feel a burden in Jake and Brennen's relationship.

I looked around the dance floor filled with people who hang out with their dates or some who were dancing. I noticed when my two friends are slow dancing and Brennen looked at me with a wink teasing me that I finally have a date.

"Do you want to dance with me?" I asked while looking at him.

"Of course." He smiles when he puts his arms around my shoulders and my hands around his waist. We start swaying away while we look into each other's eyes, I swear I lost in there because it's a whole new universe. "I believe that we haven't introduced ourselves properly. I'm Sam."

"I'm Colby."

"Do you play 20 questions, so we can know each other until we wait for the New Year?"

"Sure." I chuckled. "You can go first if you want."

"Ok." The blond boy, Sam said with a smile. "How old are you?"

"I'm 21 but I'm going to be 22 tomorrow after the New Year. How about you?"

"Ah, you're almost a gift for the New Year."

"You could say that." I laughed gently while we continue dancing back and forth from the slow song.

We continue talking about ourselves and getting to know each other because who knows if we ever see one another again? I told him about I'm a bartender from a downtown area, at a restaurant on a beach. I also told him that I was raised by my uncle because my parents were in the military. He was supportive about I'm traveling around the world and I decided to settle down and live in Miami Florida. I have an older brother named Gage, he's 24 years old and he asked his girlfriend if she could marry him and she said yes.
