Shattered

Savana wakes with a gasp and a small cry. "It's okay, Shrimp, we're here." Jasper says immediately coming over to her side. "We're here with you."

Savana looks for her iPad. "I think it got left upstairs. This place has everything else, Grayson, see if it has a pen and paper?" Grayson immediately leaves to look for the wanted items.

In the mean time Savana just looks at Jasper and waits patiently. "We are under attack." Savana's eyes open wide. "Brice tried to wake you and couldn't so he handed you over to Grayson while he went and dealt with the issue." Jasper sneers. He really hopes that it's the sheriff that is attacking, he would love nothing more than for him to be permanently dealt with.

Jasper is about to continue when Grayson comes back with the desired items. Savana thanks him as she takes them. It doesn't take her long to write out, "Is it the sheriff?"

"We don't know. Brice hadn't been informed of that yet. Not many are foolish enough to attack him though. He is known to deal rather thoroughly with those that go against him. He has a very solid hold on things in his territory and even beyond. Basically if he wants something, he gets it from the other mafias. My past owners about pissed their pants if they heard Brice was coming to visit them. Even if it was to renew treaties. They hadn't done anything to betray Brice, but they were still very much afraid of him. 

"Considering that he's younger than most of them by decades that says a lot. My ex owners would be horrified to know that I'm now here. They would be mourning for me, I think." Jasper says that last rather reflexively.

"Why?" Savana is confused on that. Brice to her is one of the best people she's ever met.

"Shrimp, other than you and any friends he might have, Brice isn't a nice guy. He rarely kills simply, he usually tortures and drags out punishments for as long as he deems necessary. There is no better protector, as you have seen, but if you go against him, he will destroy you. I don't think there is any one better to protect you than Brice Jensen."

Savana stands up and leans against a wall. There is a click and part of the wall moves and monitors come on, cameras  that are linked into the security system. The fight in all its glory unfolds before them.

That's all it takes to send Savana flashing back to the night she was taken and her parents killed. As she watches a man fall from being shot she falls and screams as she falls. She's crying hysterically as she remembers that night in vivid detail.

Jasper and Grayson run to her side and hold her between them. They are doing all they can to calm her down and they hope that the panic room is as sound proof as they believe it to be. They hadn't even heard any of the gun fire so they believe they are alright, but if not Savana is giving away their location.

Brice is having a grand time. There is nothing he likes better than letting off steam by shooting at people. It's been awhile since he's been able to indulge in his favorite past time. People are too terrified of him to cross him. It makes for a boring life, but that also makes for good business. Well, depending on the business. Some business it's better for things to not be so calm.

He keeps a strict watch on weapons coming any where near his territory and so he knows which of his neighboring mafias is arming up. Of course the other mafias have no idea that he has such strict watch on things.

For the most part he doesn't care what they do, but he keeps an eye on weapons and flesh trading. There is no way he's going to be caught unaware with the weapons and he's doing his best to take down the flesh trading.

His allies all know that he frowns on it. Partakes once in a while, but frowns on it. So most of them have backed off as well.

He would rather they stopped altogether but until he does, and he can't until it's shut down, it's unlikely that they will.
