Steve's POV
There have been no missions for over a week. Everyone was bored out of their mind, so being a good leader, I've been spending the past few hours researching games that we can all play. I've only found a few so far...wait, floor is lava? Does the floor actually turn to lava? I should probably ask Tony.
"Hey Tones," I called him. He's in the closet, organising his clothes. As I said, bored out of his mind.
"Yeah babe?" He calls back to me, poking his head out and looking at me, perched on the edge of our bed with a Starkpad in my hands.
"Floor is lava?" I try. He looks panicked before spinning around and disappearing into the closet. I hear a few soft thuds and a groan "Tony? You ok?" I put the Starkpad on the bed and stood up, walking into the closet to see Tony lying on a cleared out shelf at my eye level. He looks angry at me for a second before climbing off the shelf.
"Why did you do that," He stated, staring at me for a second before starting to pick up the clothes that he shoved to the floor.
"I'm trying to find something for everyone to do and I was wondering if you knew what the game is," I explained. He stood up fully and glared at me.
"So you thought that was the best way to ask, by scaring me half to death?" I pulled him into a hug that he happily accepted, still pouting slightly as I pulled away.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I know how to cheer you up though," I beamed at him. "When I first heard of the game I thought the floor would actually turn to lava,"
He burst out laughing at that, almost falling over. I had to grab his shoulder so he wouldn't collapse on the floor. After a while, he got control of his breathing, occasionally giggling, so I let go of him and made my way back to our bed.
He follows me out, having picked up all the clothes, and stands in front of me. "We need to test this on everyone," he exclaims, looking excited. I sigh at his antics, but follow him out of the room nonetheless.
We walk out of our room and down the hall to the main area of the penthouse floor, which has a kitchen, lounge room and dining room. I can see everyone sitting/standing in various places in the lounge room, all talking to each other.
Clint and Pietro have their backs to the tv and are sitting next to each other on the floor opposite the three-seater couch. On the left end is Nat with Wanda next to her. Loki is standing near the windows next to the tv, staring at the view with a book in his hands. Bucky and Sam are standing next to the book shelf and talking to each other , which is opposite the door we are standing in. While Bruce and Thor are standing over by the breakfast bar, with Bruce holding a Starkpad identical to mine and showing something Thor. With the last couple being Peter and Harley, who were standing behind the couch, having a conversation with Nat and Wanda.
Standing in the doorway, all the conversation stops and everyone stares at us, a look of confusion on all their faces. "Hey guys, what's going on?" Clint asks, smiling slightly but still confused. I look at Tony and see he's smirking. He opens his mouth, looking like he's about to scream, which he does.
"FLOOR IS LAVA!! 5... 4..." He jumps on my back, wrapping his legs around my waist as I hold onto the top of the door frame, which has metal, specifically designed for people to hang off it.
Everyone looks as panicked as Tony was when I said it earlier, all scrambling to find something to stand on, even Thor and Loki.
Nat and Wanda stand up on the couch, still holding hands even while Wanda uses her powers to create a force field so no-one else can climb on. Nat is smirking as she watches the chaos unfold.
Pietro picks up Clint bridal-style and speeds them up the wall and into the vent. Once safe, they stick their heads out, trying to see where everyone else goes.
Bucky boosts Sam up to the top of the very deep bookshelf, with Sam carefully manoeuvring himself so he can help his boyfriend up after him. When Bucky makes it to the top, they both sit with their backs to the wall, feet slightly hanging off the edge, seeing if anyone doesn't make it.
Loki being Loki, casually walks over to the coffee table and steps up. Seemingly bored, he opens the book to where the bookmark is and continues to read, ignoring the rush around him.
Thor picks Bruce up and quickly steps closer to the breakfast bar, setting Bruce on the surface before pulling himself up to sit next to him. Bruce puts down the device, too curious on who goes where to survive.
Peter quickly jumps into action. Him and Harley have practised for something like this. Harley stays on the ground while Peter pulls himself onto the ceiling, making a makeshift hammock with his webbing and quickly pulling Harley up when Peter deems it safe.
"3... 2... 1..." Tony calls the final numberS, allowing everyone to get off the various pieces of furniture and off/out the ceiling. Everyone has a grin on their faces, having finally been truly invested in doing something.
"That was fun," Peter says, dissolving the hammock as Harley stands underneath him.
"Yeah that actually was," Bucky chimes in. "How were you hanging from the door frame for so long?" He asks, turning to Steve, who shrugs in response.
"Tony said 'hold us up on the door frame, it'll hold', so I just did,"
No-one's POV
After that, the 'floor is lava' challenge became a common thing that any of them said, trying to catch people off guard. But somehow, no-one had 'died' yet, somehow finding a way to get themselves off the floor.
"FLOOR IS LAVA!" Peter yells from the hallway in the penthouse. Technically no-one is around to hear him but in that case, Friday projects his voice to all the speakers in any room an Avenger is in. He himself hops onto the ceiling. "Friday, pull up cams of everyone," he says. a projection appears infant of him, showing all the rooms that have and Avenger.
"5... 4... 3... 2... 1..."
In those 5 seconds, Steve, in the training room, jumps onto the punching bag he was beating up and hugs it. Tony scrambles out from under the car he was fixing in the basement and jumps onto its hood. Thor, Bruce, Nat and Wanda, who were all in their partners rooms, jump onto their own bed with Bruce standing up on the couch he was reading on. Harley, who was in the kitchen, jumps up onto the counter, his feet dangling off, continuing to eat his sandwich. Loki, who was once again reading in the library, steps up onto the table that has a few of the books he's been reading on, still reading.
When Peter's counting ceases, everyone steps back onto the floor and continues on what they were doing, like nothing even happened. Peter continued his walk into the kitchen, going to find Harley to inform him of their classes field trip next week, to Avengers Tower.

So I actually got this idea while watching an old Unspeakable video where they played floor is lava. He's a really good YouTuber, I recommend checking his channel out, he always makes me laugh.
Have a good day/night.
