Everyone has their own personal question to ponder-something that replays in their mind over and over again. For a long time, I have always pondered my one question: "Was it my fault?" My name is Callie Jones. I'm just a poor girl from California, trying to figure my life out while vacationing in Florida with my mom's boyfriend's family. Finding yourself is hard, especially when it feels like you only have half of the puzzle pieces. They say one can only lie to themselves for so long. The hard part isn't lying. If you keep telling yourself a lie, eventually the lie becomes disguised as the truth. The real challenge is when you come to the realization that the lie you've morphed into the truth for all these years is torn apart, leaving behind the hurtful and undeniable reality. I'm not sure how to start this; to be honest, I'm not even sure how to write this. If there's one place we can start, my brain, the most fragile yet sacred thing I've ever owned.
