Arleigh Granger was walking side by side with Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley towards the room of requirement for the first lesson with the Dumbledore's army. The cobalt eyed witch was of course anxious and nervous about it, she couldn't mistake, everyone there already loathed her and she couldn't worsen it.
Once they entered the room, she immediately let out an heavy sigh and tied her hair in a braid quickly.
"Ready, Leigh?" Questioned her cousin as she joined her side
"As I'll ever be, I suppose" forced a smirk Leigh, "Hopefully, I won't mess up"
"You'll do just great" smiled Harry, approaching the duo of girls and eventually resting his hand on Arleigh's back.
Arleigh felt her cheeks heating up slightly at his touch while her stomach twisted in large knots; Hermione noticed her reaction and curled up her lips.
After a few minutes everyone of the DA arrived, looking rather thrilled, certainly more than Leigh.
"Glad to see all of you found this place" began Potter, pacing in front of everyone.
"What is all of this stuff?" Exclaimed Longbottom, excitingly
"Defense against the dark arts equipment, actually. We'll hopefully be able to get to all of it before the end of the term" responded the younger Granger
The boy who lived gave a warm smile to his colleague, which was responded with a wink from her, causing blush to spread on his cheeks.
"You need to understand something first before we start," explained Harry, turning his attention back to the army, "defending yourself from the dark arts has less to do with magical ability and more to do with thinking fast and a lot of luck"
"We'll be doing Expelliarmus tonight and we'll hopefully move to something else if we have enough time" continued Leigh, forcing a grin
"Oh please, Lockhart taught us in second year" spoke a boy, who Arleigh didn't quite remember the name of
"Didn't recall him teaching at all" she scoffed loudly, "Though it is rather useful, Potter and I used it both last year against You-know-who"
"Yeah, it saved our lives" added eventually the raven haired, eyeing his friend beside him, "Okay, let's split up in pairs and give it a go"The two teachers wandered around the room, making sure everyone was trying the spell and helping whoever needed.
"You're doing great, Luna" smiled Arleigh as she passed by the ravenclaw, who disarmed Cho Chang
"Thank you, Arleigh" grinned the Lovegood witch, while the other ravenclaw coldly just stared at the Granger.
Leigh simply rolled her eyes and got back to her patrol around the room of requirement.
"Well done, Neville!" Exclaimed Potter as he noticed how the clumsy Gryffindor disarmed Ronald, "Look here, you lot! Neville really got hand of this one!"
While everyone watched as Longbottom cast the charm once more, Arleigh admired how happy Potter seemed at seeing how improved Neville had gotten just that lesson. It made her heart skip a beat as warmth spread around her body again. How could somebody like Harry make Leigh feel so stupid?!
"I did it!" Shouted in excitement Longbottom, causing the blue eyed Granger to grin slightly.
"Never forget that spell, Longbottom" she smirked, "It might actually save your life some day"
The chosen one stared at Leigh as she smilingly addressed everyone to leave and meet again the following week, she seemed so relieved while teaching the others, she even seemed alright. Though he of course acknowledged she wasn't, how can Hermione not notice it? Or her friends from slytherin? He kept questioning himself.
"Earth to Potter..?" A voice bright him back to reality, causing his head to shake repeatedly.
A grin crawled on Arleigh's lips slowly, "You alright there, Potter?"
"Of course..I was just..ehm..distracted" he muttered, which was actually correct, "Sorry, you were saying?"
A chuckle escaped her curled up lips, "It's nothing, don't worry. But you should go get some rest, Harry"
"You know you should as well"
"And you know I can't," sighed Leigh, "the only time I actually slept was at Grimmauld place..with you"
A goofy and wide smile placed itself on Harry's thin and pinky lips, she only slept when she was with me..
The DADA equipment suddenly vanished in thin air, replaced by a warm fireplace, a bathroom, two wardrobes and one bed.
"Seems like this room wants you to have another good sleep" grinned even wider if possible Potter, gripping one of her hands softly, "Come on"
"I can't make you stay here with me simply because I can't sleep" protested Arleigh
"You're not making me, I am willingly staying" corrected the raven haired, "Plus, if I'm being completely honest, I didn't have any nightmares either that night...when I-I was with you"
"You're having nightmares? Why didn't you tell me?" Immediately concerned the Granger
"Because it's nothing, don't worry about it" shrugged the wizard and headed towards one of the two wardrobes in the room.
He swung it open and pulled out a Gryffindor pajamas, which was rather pathetic if you asked him, though he had an idea.
"This room managed to get us both two pajamas for the night, Leigh," he smiled, "and you, darling, are wearing the Gryffindor one"
An hint of blush spread on the girl's cheeks as the nickname Potter had chosen for her reached her ears, then she folded her arms over her chest and narrowed her eyes slightly.
"I don't think so" she replied
Harry smirked as he approached her a little more, their bodies basically against one another.
"It wasn't a question, I'm afraid, it was a simple statement" he wiggled his brows
A groan escaped her lips as she gripped the pajamas from the boy's grasp and then she trotted to her wardrobe, pulling out the Slytherin one and throwing it to him with a slight grin.
"I'll be changing in the bathroom, I'll be right back" announced Arleigh and headed towards the restroom, quickly changing into her new pajamas.
Harry smiled to himself as he pictured how nice Arleigh would've looked with his house's colors on, he bit into his bottom lip and wore the Slytherin pajamas she had thrown at him.
Leigh eventually came out of the restroom with the pj on, looking quite flushed at the sight of Potter all in green and silver.
"Don't you look dashing?" She smirked and put on the hood of her pajamas, hiding under it.
The raven haired turned to face her and his mouth dropped open, her clothing was somewhat tight around her body, making all her curves visible at his eyes. A goofy grin played on his lips and he giggled softly.
"What are you laughing at, Potter?!" Exclaimed the witch, throwing a pillow at him
"You're so cute" his lips curled up even more while she widened her eyes, it was the first time he had truthfully complimented her.
Her cheeks immediately shifted to a bright pink and she tucked a stray of light brown locks behind her ear.
"Th-thanks" she faked a bow with a smirk
Harry ran an hand through his messy dark hair as his cheeks reddened as well as hers, chuckling awkwardly at her gesture.
The two of them then popped on the comfortable looking bed the room of requirement had provided for them. At first, Leigh didn't know what to do, when they slept together at Grimmauld place there was nothing else going on between them, not that now there was, or so they told themselves. Now? They literally almost kissed and Arleigh could no longer hide it or put it aside.
There was something growing inside of her, something that she had never felt, something new to her. She couldn't understand if she liked it or if she wanted it to go away, it haunted her mind at all times..in a somewhat good way, however. Something really warm always spread across her body whenever she was with him.
Potter seemed to notice that she was deep in thought and grinned to himself, studying all of her features up close for once. They were only inches away from one another, their bodies touching and sending chills down their backs. Eventually, he slid his arm above her shoulders and pulled her gently to him, giving her a goofy smile when she glanced at him.
Arleigh grinned as well while she rested her head on his chest, smiling even wider as she heard his heartbeat increasing, just like hers for that matter. She slipped her arm over his ribs and let it rest there, while Potter gripped into her hand and intertwined with his.
The chosen one pressed his lips on her head and gave her a soft kiss, causing her stomach to do a backflip as butterflies formed inside of it, flying around her body.
"Thank you, Harry," she gazed him, "for everything you have done for me"
The raven haired kissed her forehead and smiled widely at her, "I'm always going to be there for you, darling"
Leigh grinned at him and kissed his cheek before lying down again.
That was the night she realized it.
It was the night she realized she indeed fancied Harry Potter.
