"What is that rubbish, Alex?" Questioned Arleigh Granger as the duo was walking towards the Quidditch pitch for the match with Gryffindor.
Alexis widened her eyes slightly and tried to hide the badge attached to her robes.
Though Leigh was fast enough to get it from her hands and examined it, she felt her blood boil in her system as her glance shifted to an icy glare.
"Where'd you get it, Alexis?" She spat
"I-I'm sorry, okay? It's just a stupid badge for our house pride" the Zabini gripped her badge back, "You should have one as well, you know"
"House pride? That is insulting and embarrassing somebody from another house!" Exclaimed Arleigh, holding her arms up in mock surrender, "You know what? I am so full of this"
She hopped on her broomstick and flew her way in the Quidditch locker room of the boys. She dropped her broom just outside and stormed inside.
"What the fuck is your problem?" She cursed, eyeing specifically Malfoy and his clique, "You honestly think that insulting somebody from another team is house pride?"
Since their previous captain had graduated from Hogwarts, Snape had made Leigh the new one. Therefore she had every right to bark orders at her fellow teammates, which she highly enjoyed.
"If I see one of these again, I will kick you out of the team, understood?" She ordered, gaining a few glares from Crabbe and Goyle, which she completely ignored as she threw the "Weasley is our king" badge in a bin near her path. What really enraged Leigh to the absolute max was the chant coming from the Slytherin stands.
"Weasley is our king, Weasley is our king! He always lets the quaffle in!"
Then she did was she was best at, creating issues and getting detention. She waited for a bludger to fly towards her and then she hit with her bat, aiming to her house's stands. The bludger distracted the students on those stands to stop them from singing and Ronald finally began feeling more confident as he blocked a few times.
Though Slytherin was still winning, until Harry noticed the golden snitch flying by beside Malfoy, who of course didn't notice it. The two of them sped to it while the game continued on. All that Arleigh wanted was for that match to be over, she could no longer bare with her fellow teammates and house mates, who took all their hatred on Ronald. She didn't care if her team lost, she simply wanted to fly away from everyone and everything.
Potter eventually got the snitch and Gryffindor won, while Leigh quickly hopped off her broomstick, ready to kick out of her team Malfoy and tell Dumbledore about that little chant the slytherins were singing.
"You are in deep shit, Malfoy!" She yelled as she rushed to him, grabbing ahold of his ear and dragging him behind the locker rooms.
"Found it amusing?" She pushed him against a wall, "Well, it honestly wasn't"
"Are you going to punish me, captain?" Smirked Draco, "Because it's bloody hot"
The platinum blond tried to lean in to kiss her, when she harshly punched him in the face.
"I'm not going to punish you, Malfoy," she mischievously grinned, "I'm actually kicking you out of the team"
Arleigh growled in annoyance at the seeker and how he had just tried to hit on her, even though he was indeed dating her friend, Alex. Though Leigh didn't know what to think of her anymore, how could she be so okay with what the slytherins had pulled up?
"I was meaning to save you from that arse of Malfoy," giggled a voice, bringing her back to reality, "but it looks like you took good care of it"
The Granger chuckled slightly with Harry as her cheeks flushed red, he came looking for me? She grinned to herself.
"As always, I might add" she smirked and smudged Potter's arm playfully, "I-I'm truly sorry fo-for what my teammates did, I-"
"It's alright, I know you have nothing to do with it..and Ron knows too, don't worry" he cut her off and she nodded
She finally took fully in his appearance, his dark messy hair stuck on his forehead by the sweat, making him look even more handsome than usual. Her eyes widened slightly as she recalled that she had just addressed her friend as handsome, she had never thought of someone that way.
"B-brilliant" she awkwardly replied and cleared her throat.
"Are you alright?" Worried the boy who lived, noticing the bags under her eyes and how pale her skin looked
"Y-yeah, 'm fine"
"You haven't been sleeping again, have you?"
Leigh shrugged her shoulders as her grasp around her broomstick tightened and she began walking ahead of the boy.
"Arleigh, you have to sleep," Harry paced quicker and reached her, "it is not bloody good for you"
"I've tried, alright?!" She shouted as her eyes became glassy, "I even tried using a sleeping potion and do you want to know what happened?! I only had more bloody nightmares!"
Her voice cracked as a few teardrops streamed down her orbs, her lips began shivering, both because of how cold it was and because of how struggling she just realized she was. Harry immediately felt bad for her, he knew how hard it must've been for her, who was even closer to Cedric than him, though she always hid her pain behind a wholesome smile or behind one of her usual jokes or comments. He approached her and gripped her shaky hands in his as more tears stained her cheeks.
"Arleigh-"
"No, no, don't you dare pity me, okay?!" She cut him short, pulling her hands away from his, "I-I'm fine, I swear I am, okay? I-I don't need your compassion, Potter..n-nor anyone else's!"
The raven haired chewed on his bottom lip, debating what to do and if it was the right thing; then he eventually rushed to her again and wrapped his arms around her, pulling Leigh in a bear-hug. Arleigh's first reaction was to try and get away from his grip, though she soon melted in his arms and embraced him as well, sobbing a little more in the crock of his neck, sending chills down his spine.
"Leigh, you need to understand it's alright to not be always strong, okay?" He muttered through her light brown locks, "It's alright if you're not always fine"
An heavy sigh escaped her dry lips while she slightly pulled away from the boy, in order to be able to meet his lovely blue eyes. She gave him a soft smile.
"Blimey, what could I do without you, Potter?" She chuckled and embraced his tighter, resting her head on his chest.
"Well, I consider that as the final proof" he cockily grinned
"What are you even on about?"
"The final proof that you fancy me"
Arleigh rubbed her forehead as she completely got away from the wizard's arms, a gentle giggle escaped her parted mouth, causing Harry to lick his lips nervously.
"You're never going to let that theory go, are you, Potter?" She groaned
"You're still not denying it" he winked
Leigh raised her arms in mock surrender, "You're a prick, Harry James Potter"
