Chapter 9 | Night One

Todoroki's Pov.

  Yaoyorozu created a trash bag for all the napkins she had created. Well... For everyone else at least. He just ate the fish with his hands. 

  'There's no use in searching for these tents. The parts are spread out so it'll take forever to find them.'

  Todoroki walked over to the group. 

  "Maybe we shouldn't go look for the tents just lying around," Todoroki spoke so everyone could hear him.

  "What?" Kirishima turned toward him, "Why?"

  "Do you see how many tents that group set up already?" Todoroki pointed at the tents that were up, "If we can't even find one, we're definitely more use here."

  "There's no-" a beep sounded, "-way I'm staying with these- " another beep rang out, "-idiots."

  "So I'm just an idiot now?" Kirishima chuckled.

  "Of course not-," there was a beep, "-hair!"

  Bakugo never stopped cursing. It was getting on his nerves.

  Todoroki walked away from Bakugo and Kirishima.

  Instead of going back to search the forest for tents, he just went with the gathering group.

  By the time he got back to the campsite, the sun was sinking into the trees, making the world around him darker. To their advantage, it was still mostly bright. 

  He realized that nine of his classmates (except Yaoyorozu because she was exhausted and they probably gave her a break). That was when Sato beckoned him over.

  "Okay, make the log even and then cut it through the middle," Sato stated.

  'I didn't volunteer for this.'

  He just nodded and did as Sato instructed.

  After he helped with two more logs, there were five of those pieces and that was where they stopped.

  When Midoriya, Tsu, Ojiro, and Jiro were done adding the legs, they were able to place them around a fire that he lit at the center of the campsite. The tents were in an almost-circle, leaving a spot open to walk through. Benches surrounded the campfire.

  His stomach rumbled silently. 

  After food that the tent-making group finished cooking, food was distributed. He didn't even have to say he wasn't sharing. Hagakure just knew. She didn't seem too happy about it though. Was it because she wanted him to share with Yaoyorozu..?

  He mentally slapped his face to get the thoughts away. 

  Todoroki ate his fish greatfully. It actually tasted good. He also silently vowed never to cook again. He just hoped his significant other (if he had one at all) could cook. Yaoyorozu could cook, correct? She helped make this, right?

  'Stop.'

  Todoroki wanted these types of thoughts to leave his head.

  Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Yaoyorozu disappear into a tent. It was probably theirs... Should he face what was coming for him? Or wait until she was asleep to go in the tent? He wanted to get away from the group anyway...

   "Go already," Ashido poked him.

  "What do you want?" he questioned, not looking at her.

  "Well, you're obviously debating whether you should go into your tent, so just go. You'll have to deal with me if you don't," Ashido urged him.

  

Momo's Pov.

  She went into her small tent, exhausted. Momo didn't have any energy to do anything else... She brought the lantern inside the tent with her. The small candle inside it was glowing brightly. There wasn't any flickering at least. SHe was glad that these lanterns were effective.

  Momo sighed as she remembered her conversation with Tokoyami.

  She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around to see Tokoyami.

  "What is it, Tokoyami?" she wondered.

  "I need to talk to you about the tents," Tokoyami started, "The blankets may not be enough to stop any rain from seeping in, but you told me it was easier for you to create blankets rather than waterproof material."

  "Yes... I know that we'll have to replace them later..." she collapsed to the ground when her legs couldn't take standing anymore, "But I really can't do that today..."

  She had to create extra things like blankets and lanterns in case they needed light or warmth... It took so much out of her...

  "I know," Tokoyami nodded his head, "Tell me when you've gathered your strength."

  Momo yawned and opened the part of the lantern that was used to blow out the candle, but saw the tent's flap open.

  "O-Oh- um- hi Todoroki," she stuttered in surprise.

  "Hello," he glanced away from her.

  There was a moment of silence. It kind of hung over their heads and she didn't really know what to say. Finally when she found the words, she spoke words.

  "Are you- um... Going to come in..?" Yaoyorozu scooted over a little bit so he had enough room to enter the tent. It certainly was small... Or at least smaller than what she was used to... And she was sleeping on a blanket with another blanket on top of her... She hoped that she wasn't going to be too uncomfortable... And Todoroki too because she'd have to sleep... Right... Next... To... Him... Wait- Right next to him!?

  Her face heated up. 

  It never completely registered in her mind that she was going to sleep next to him... Or did it and she just forgot? Momo almost dropped the lantern and maybe set everything on fire.

  Todoroki entered the tent. They were extremely close together... Like on the bus. Except now they were going to sleep an entire night next to each other. 

  Her stomach churned with uneasiness. What if something (that sounded so wrong!  happened and Todoroki never forgets? That would be bad!

  Her heart started racing.

  "Are you alright?" Todoroki asked.

  "Yeah!?" she blurted.

  "Was that a question?" he wondered.

  "No!" Momo said quickly.

  She really hoped her couldn't hear her heartbeat. It was really loud. WHo was she kidding? HE might be able to feel it from how close he was...

  That made her face turn even more pink. 

  Momo caught Todoroki staring at her, and couldn't take it anymore so she blew out the lights, silently hoping that he didn't catch that she was a strawberry.
