Chapter 15 | Conversation

Todoroki's Pov.

  "Why do you care so much?" Todoroki wondered.

  "You really want to know?" Ashido wondered.

  He nodded in response.

  "In middle school, one of my best friends caught Hanahaki..." she started, "I desperately wanted to help her, but I didn't know how. One day, it just hit me that I could get her and her crush together by putting them in situations to move the process along. It worked within two days, and that was when Cupid decided to have a little chat with me. He offered me my bush teleportation powers where the Shipping Sense is strongest in exchange for the ability to fall in love. He said that I would be his right hand girl when it comes to stopping Hanahaki in my area. I decided to take the deal."

  She twirled around.

  "And I've been single and strong ever since!" Ashido had a big smile painted on her face.

  Then she went on.

  "So, I was lying earlier when I said I only saw two cases of Hanahaki, I actually travel around the globe to stop the outbreaks. I made a bunch of friends and that's why I don't have any other hobbies other than scrap booking," Ashido finished.

  Todoroki didn't exactly know what to believe at the moment.

  "And so, yeah," she nodded her head, "Any questions?"

  "Many," Todoroki told her, "But I don't want to ask them."

  That was when he saw Yaoyorozu approaching them again.

  "Good luck!" Ashido waved and walked away.

  "Um... Todoroki," Yaoyorozu said his name.

  "Hm?" he turned to look at her face.

  "Um.. Could you maybe make some ice for me? I- Um... Got you a glass of water too," Yaoyorozu was swaying back and forth, fidgeting wildly. 

  "Sure," Todoroki created a large ice pillar next to them. He hoped that the amount of ice he created would suffice. Or maybe it was too much..?

  Instead, Yaoyorozu jumped backward, spilling her water in the process on her... Chest... 

  He looked away as soon as possible... But he already knew the color of the clothing underneath her shirt... He felt ashamed... Todoroki felt like he violated her, almost like what Mineta was trying to do... He shouldn't have done what he did...

  "Sorry..." Todoroki apologized guiltily, "I didn't mean to-"

 "N-No! It's alright!" Yaoyorozu cut him off, "It'll dry quickly, don't worry!"

  He didn't know how to react when she acted like that was fine... Because it wasn't...

  She held out a cup for him, and he accepted it, blushing as their fingertips met.

  The creation quirked girl ran behind the pillar of ice that caused this whole problem.

  "Thank you, I appreciate the ice," Yaoyorozu seemed to still be thankful for the ice... She must've chipped some off to put in her water.

  When Todoroki didn't say anything for a few minutes, she left him there.

  He didn't know what he just witnessed... But he felt really bad about that... 

  Todoroki collected some ice off of his pillar and put it in the water. 

Momo's Pov.

  'Great... Something else embarrassing happened to today...'

  She wished all this would stop... Momo just wanted to be friends with Todoroki... Maybe more...

  Her face flushed pink at that last part... Why did she have to think about things like this? 

 She realized everyone around her was searching around for something.

  "What's happening..?" she asked Tsu.

  "Midoriya stole the mulberries, ribbit," Tsu filled her in.

  "Should I help you look, or..?" Momo trailed off.

  "No, it looks like Ochaco found him," Tsu pointed at them coming out of the undergrowth.

  It didn't appear that the basket of mulberries was empty in any way. In fact, it was nearly overflowing... So why did Midoriya steal the berries? Did he have another motive? She noticed he was scribbling in his notebook. That must have been it, but she certainly wasn't expecting him to steel anything.

  Ochaco and Midoriya talked for a moment, and then they nodded to each other before taking baskets into the forest. They must've decided to pick more berries. She was happy that they had found that tree, it was most likely going to be valuable resource for them. 

  After dinner, she finally had a break to talk with her female friends. They left everyone else behind for just the six of them to talk. 

  "Midoriya swiped all those mulberries away from us..." Mina sighed, looking sad.

  "I just can't believe Midoriya stole the mulberries..." Momo trailed off, "I never would've imagined that he would."

  Not for the purposes he did it for at least. She didn't know what his notes were about, but did he need to steal it from everyone for a reason. Momo could only hope that he has good reasons.

"He probably ate so many of them, he was hiding for a good ten minutes," Mina sighed because you really can't be angry at him for long.

"Actually," Ochaco chimed in, "He didn't actually eat any."

"How do you know?" Toru asked her, "Did you help him smuggle the berries?"

  "No," Uraraka told them truthfully, "He did that because he wanted to see our reactions and write them down in his hero notebook."

  Our reactions from the berries..? She hope that Ochaco would elaborate a little bit.

  He's a cinnamon roll," Mina sighed, "Of course there was some wholesome reason behind it."

  "That sounds like Midoriya," Jiro nodded.

  "Yeah, it was just to see what we would do if something was kidnapped. He told me that most of our reactions would be what it would be like if something or someone important to us was taken away from us," Ochaco explained, "Except if someone important was captured, our reactions would be on a larger scale."

  That made a lot more sense. She was glad that Ochaco had a chance to ask him about that. It cleared up many things for her and perhaps everyone else sitting here. She wondered what Todoroki was up to right now...
