3rd person's POV

Over the next few days, they endured several attacks. Typically telkhines, as they were the most aquatic assault monsters. Some assaults occurred at night, which were the most annoying, but manageable. The rest of the time was spent in the gym sparing. However, on the fourth day they came up against something far more fearsome than a squad of telkhines.

They were leaning on the rail staring out at the waves. Nico was talking about the last capture the flag match at camp half-blood. "The best part was when I stepped out of a shadow right next to this new ares kid. His face was priceless!" : Nico laughed. "You greeks really have it different." : Reyna replied chuckling. Their banter continued, until suddenly Nico tensed, his hand straying to his sword, currently hanging at his side. The mist concealed it from mortal eyes, but humans gave them a wide berth regardless.

"What's up Neeks?" : Reyna asked. "That." : Nico pointed to the water rear of the boat, "That ripple's been following us for the past ten minutes."  They ran to the back of the ferry, drawing their weapons as they did so. Fortunately, it was relatively empty. Unfortunately, they arrived just in time to see two massive greenish-grey tentacles erupt from the ocean.

Reyna's POV

One tentacle surged forward, smacking Nico in the chest and tossing him back into a pile of stacked chairs. I charged, vaulting over one of the tentacles and leaping onto the second. The monster's hide was so thick that my first strike only bit into it, insteading of slicing right through. I climbed further up the tentacle, my sword morphing into a dagger.

Five more tentacles erupted around the ship, smashing into the sides of the ferry. "Where the blazes is Nico?" : I thought, "he should have recovered from that strike by now." Just then, the rest of the monster erupted from the sea. A giant squid-like beast with three more tentacles kept back to defend itself. The creature was so large that I knew that my sword would be nearly useless against it, it would be a mosquito to a human.

To my left, a portion of the air darkened and Nico dropped out of the sky, landing neatly on the other tentacle. He scanned the creature quickly, and his face darkened. "You have got to be freaking kidding me. Is that the-" : he began. "Yup." : I finished, "Behold, the Kraken."
