Reyna's POV
The creature roared, sending a wave of force rippling across us, forcing us to tighten our grip around the suckers on the tentacles. "Nico!" : I yelled, "Would stygian iron-? "Nope!" : he replied, "Too big for my sword to absorb! Best it could do is wound it." They dodged a swipe from another tentacle. "I'll have to strike it in a weak spot though." : Nico continued. "How about that?" : I gestured at the monster's giant eyes with my sword. Nico nodded, and started shimmying towards the monster's body, moving along the tentacle to where he could jump onto the creature.
I continued hacking at any tentacles that got near, trying my best to keep the monster's attention on myself, allowing Nico to get closer to his target. Finally, my sword sliced through a tentacle, a section of it falling into the sea and dissolving into silt. The monster roared, its remaining tentacles lashing into a fury. Three sliced towards me at the same time. Despite all my training, I only managed to avoid two of them.
The third tentacle wrapped around my waist, wrenching me into the air and squeezing me. "Nico!" : I yelled, "C'mon!" I could feel my ribs creaking, causing me to gasp in pain. I heard a yell of rage, and then the pressure suddenly slackened. Nico stood on the monster's head, yanking his sword out of the monster's left eye. A tentacle swirled out of the water towards him. "Neeks!" : I yelled, "Look out!"
Too late, the tentacle smacked him in the chest with a deafening crack, sending him flying out across the waves.
