Don't You Dare - A Reynico Fanfic

Chapter 30

3rd person's POV

     Guards rushed forward, but Hylla waved them off. "How did you get out?" : she demanded. "Did you seriously try to lock the son of the lord of shadows in a dark black box?" : Nico replied, his grin growing even wider. "It's called shadow travel." : Reyna explained, "a form of teleportation via shadows that Nico utilises."  "I can take people and objects too." : Nico explained. He held out his hand to Hylla who looked at it suspiciously for a second, before swatting it away. She took a step forward and put her hand on Nico's shoulder. He laughed and took a step back into the shadow of the pillar, and he and the amazonian queen evaporated into wisps of darkness. 

     They reappeared a second later at the opposite side of the room, in the shadow of a large shipping crate. "Very impressive Nico." : Hylla admitted as they returned to where Reyna was waiting. "Haha, thanks." : Nico said, his voice tinged with sheepishness. "That might actually be useful for-" : Hylla was interrupted as an amazonian warrior burst into the chamber. Blood soaked her left side and she had a long cut on her forehead. "My lady!" : she gasped, "The perimeter has been breached! We've lost contact with the outer defences!" She collapsed into the arms of two other amazons who immediately started tending to her wounds with ambrosia and bandages. 

     "Level 5 alert! Scramble all troops to reinforce the defences!" : Hylla yelled at one of the nearby guards. She turned to Nico and Reyna, "Reyna, you know the way out, the one I showed you last time. Gather what intel you can. Go, I must take care of this." : she said. "Wait Hylla, the prophecy says that the both of us need to 'face and tether' the ancient foe together. We need you!" Reyna yelled back over the sirens and red flashing lights. "I'll find you later, now go-" : her words were cut off, as like the first time Reyna was there the chamber's main blast doors were wrenched open by a massive angry tongue of green fire.
