Nico's POV

We should have died. Malnourished, tired, blood stolen by a titan trying to enhance his powers, and now facing said titan and his guards. I fought for what seemed like hours, parrying, ducking, slicing, stabbing, you name it, until finally there were only two left. Unfortunately, that's when I heard it. A sharp snap and a loud cry. I turned to find Reyna on one knee, her left ankle bent at an unnatural angle. I had no idea I could move this fast. I cut down the last two monsters and leapt in front of Reyna just as Koios brought down his sword. I caught his wrists, the edge of his blade centimetres from my face. It shouldn't have been possible, the titan should have laughed and swatted me aside. Instead he grunted against my strength. Then I realised, I wasn't stronger, Koios was weaker. I had sapped the life force from beings before, that Bryce Lawrence kid and a germanus lieutenant in Nero's tower, but a titan? I didn't think I could do that, but I didn't have much choice at that moment.

I screamed, expelling the power of Hades into the titan, his skin cracked and turned the colour of ash. Unfortunately, Koios had been right, especially in my current state I was no match for him. His skin healed and his strength doubled, forcing me to one knee. "Foolish mortal." : Koios laughed, his skin and eyes blazing with golden light. "I am a titan, you however are nothing." he spat. He forced me to both my knees, his sword blade creeping toward my face. At that moment, I saw in a flash everything that Koios intended to do. Both demigod camps smouldering craters, mount olympus burning, his titan brothers established in the god's place, the entire world terraformed in the titan's image. I couldn't let that happen, but there wasn't anything I could do to stop it. Reyna was injured, and we were both spent, almost blacking out from exhaustion, wounded from our respective fights, and an immortal titan standing over us.

I looked down desperately at Reyna, "I'm sorry." : I gasped, my arms nearly buckling at the strain of keeping the titan's sword back. But instead of fear or anguish, the look she gave me was one of pure determination. "We aren't done yet." : she smirked back, then she clasped my ankle and a blast of power ripped through me.
