and if you commented on the last chapter, wattpad wont let me see them so if you wanna message me what you commented, you dont have to but I love seeing all the comments"Um well," I said with a light chuckle, though the look on Brooks face, he didn't find it amusing, "Um well I had this friend her name was Amber and you see her family is really into Rodeoing," I said and Brooks nodded sternly telling me to continue, "and they have the whole set up, like indoor arena, and me and her were practicing barrels and stuff, but her little brother wanted to do a little steer riding. So me being me, I volunteered to be rodeo clown while everyone else helped him in the shoots. And um well," I laughed scratched the back of my neck roughly, "Her little brother came off and the steer went for him so I dove over him, and I did have all the gear on, but the steers blunt horns carved up my leg like it was a roast lamb, haha, but the kid came out fine," I refused to tell him how excruciating the pain was, "I was just in hospital and physio therapy for a while, they did tell me that I probably would be able to ride again, well I threw that back in their faces, but I'm fine now haha," I said as I looked down, seeing I'm still in just under garment. I blushed a deep scarlet.
Some time during that little speech of mine Brooks had sad down on the bed, his face was blank and I wasnt sure how to react. He puffed a big stressed sigh and came over to me and hugged me, "And that was about 3 years ago?" he asked and I nodded, "Okay, now I understand why you suddenly stopped coming down to the river and stopped wearing shorts and why for a while there you didn't ride anything but the bike," he said and a tear fell down my cheek, it really did kill me not telling him, "But why did that steer have horns? That's my question," and I just shrugged, the past is in the past, and I felt like a sudden weight was lifted off my chest. I don't know why I didn't just tell him in the first place, what was the worst that he was doing to do?
"I'm just glad that you finally told me," he said emphasising the word finally and places a light kiss on my lips.
"Sorry to break this up but I'm only in undies and bra and I need to work with that mare before it gets dark," I said with a light laugh, whipping the tears away. He squeezed me in a tight hug before letting me go and work. As I got dressed and walked out I heard Brooks murmur that I worry him some times and something along the lines of that I'll be the death of him one day. I just laughed and went on my way.I got out side and that same pup came and greeted me with a big goofy smile and a wagging tail. He had to only be about 6 months old. He had one Blue eye and one brown and a black patch overing the brown eye and medium length fur.
"You can name him if you want, he seams to like you more than me any way," said a voice from behind me. I just ran over and hugged Brooks to death. He was way to good to me.I turned around and faced the pup, "I shall call you Bo, after one of my favourite child hood story books."
Brooks just laughed at me and we got on with our after noon. I had decided to cut my walk a little short and saddle Denny up for a ride. He was so handsome and strong, I felt the pride beam off me as he stood proudly in his stall. I walked him out and saddled him up and cantered him out to the arena and I set up the barrels. I rode until the sun went down and perfected as much as I could on both barrels and the mechanical cow, and the pup, well the pup just sat at the gate watching me.The week went on, work got easier as we went, less busy, the mare got better by the day, not to long and I would be starting to ride her, and Brooks and I just fell more in love.
After about a month of this I has started working on saddle breaking the mare. Brooks has been extra annoying since I told him bout the accident with that steer, he keep hovering and wont let me do anything to strenuous. Finaly it was the day to get in the saddle. Her wounds are pretty much all but forgotton.
I hoisted the stock saddle onto her back. We had been working up to this for a while. I quickly but softly mounted and clicked her into a slow walk. There was a few little pigroots and a buck but we got this out of her system and we were fine. I then tried trotting, and well yeah she didn't like that to much, she bucked and twisted like a bronc but I tried to hold on but I couldn't and I fell over and off her rump and then she took off in circles around the arena. I just lay there for a moment, which is probably a stupid idea, and catch my breath. But before I could even get in a breath I was pulled from the ground by a pare of familiar strong arms. I tried turning and twisting to get out of his grip, he was really starting to get on my nerves with all this hovering.
I finaly managed to get a few good hits is, "What is your problem?" I stressed, "all you seem to be doing lately is follow me around, I'm not aloud to do this, I'm not aloud to do that! is this becasue of the scars? hu?"
He finaly put me down and the mare had come to a stop just against the arena fence and watched us, "That is apart of it, but I'm sorry, ok, I didnt mean to crowd you, its just, everytime you are gone you get hurt, like when you were in america you got emotionaly shattered, then the time you got that call, about your mum, I had turned my back for 5 minutes and then now well 3 years ago you did that to yourself and I wasnt there to help you when you needed it most, now that I think about it, I have never really been there when you needed me," he said looking at the ground.
I ajusted his head so he was looking me in the eye, "Sure thats true, but you have always been there to pull me out of those emotional holes that I fell into, you have always been there when it counts."
