"Audrey," Jackson, one of the other vet doctors, shouted.
"Yeah?" I shouted back, I was having my lunch break. It had been a pretty slow day only a few people come in.
"House call. The Robertsons, horse went through a fence" he said poping his head around the door.
"Ok cool I'll head out after lunch," I said with a smile.
He nodded and left. I took the last bite of my sandwich and went to my room to get my stuff. I slipped off my ring, put it in my wallet and headed off.
It took me half an hour to get there, but when I got there the horse was still in the fence and a young boy was trying to get it out.
"Shit," I murmered as I pulled the fencing gear out of the tray of my ute. I marched over, looking for any signs of parents. I got to the fence and I placed my hand on the boys shoulder, he had to be no older that 17, "Why dont you tell me what happend here?" I sugested as I tried to calm the crazed horse down.
"Well you see, um, mum and dad went on holidays since I have my P plates now, and they are gone for the week. Gypsy, I just let her out into the paddock, like I do every morning but something spooked her and she ran and tryed to jump the fence," he said looking doing guitly.
"Look mate its going to be alright," I said trying to reasure him, "Now how long has she been in the fence?"
"Um about an hour, I tried to get her out by myself, but I couldnt, so I called you guys," he said.
I just nodded. The horse wasn't calming down, so I did the first thing that came to my mind. I took off my shirt, leaving me in a singlet and I rubbed the horses nose in it before covering her eyes. It was almost instent she went still.

"Um come over here and hold this for me?" I asked and it took him a while to come to his sences, he was staring at my now singlet clad body, I poked him and he snapped out of his daze.

"Luke. That's my name," he added as he took hold of the shirt.

"And Im Audrey," I said back with a smile.

I pulled out a pare of wire snipps and started cutting the horse free. I finished cutting and looked the horse over.
"She isnt to bad just a few scratched and lame in her front left leg, but she will be right," I said as I put dressings on the horses wounds.
Luke nodded. We got the mare standing and we walked her over to a clean stall. I faced into the stable and patted the horses nose. I turned around to face Luke but before I could say a word, his lips crushed down on mine, it felt so wrong. I pushed him away will all my strength and he stumbled backwards. For a 17 he was really strong.
The fist words to come out of my mouth were, "I'm ENGAGED! I'm getting married next month!"
A confused then apologetic look came across his face, "I'm-I'm really sorry, I didn't see a ring so I thought."
"Yeah Im a Vet Doctor, do you think its safe to wear my ring all the time!" I stressed.
"Im really sorry," he said rubbing his face in his hands.
"Its alright, just dont go doing it again," I said as I handed him some needles, "one of these a day untill there are none left, to stop infection and I think you should give your parents a call."
He lowered his head, accepting how stupid he had been and said, "Yeah I spose your right, and thank you for that help. At lease I have something to keep me occupied for the next few days," he said pointing to the broken fence.
I just laughed and patted his back, "Bye Luke."

The day went slow after that, I just wanted to get home after that, home to Brooks.
I got back to the clinic and started working on a small line up of paticent. Soon the clock chimed 4 and I was out of there. I needed to get home.

I pulled in the gate and floored it to the house. I jumped out of the car and ran towards Brooks and almost tackled him to the ground.
"I love you," I said as I burried my face into his chest.
"Well afternoon to you to," he said with a laugh, "What's up buttercup?"
My face still smooshed in his chest I answered, "Nothing I just missed you."
He just laughed and hugged me tighter, "I missed you to. Now I was thinking 'bout going for a shoot tonight and setting pig traps, there has been a few stretched fences and so on. What do ya think?" he asked.
I nodded and pulled away, "Sounds good, I'll go get changed then I'll be out."
I ran to my room, I hadn't been out for a shoot in ages, I was a little excited. I pulled on my jeans from yesterday and a tank top that red, 'Kiss my Country Ass',and I ran out the door. Brooks had grabbed the riffles and amunition and we set off.

We didnt really see anything untill dusk and we got a few pigs and a goat and half a dozen bunnies. We had set up a few circular pig trap here there and every where. We were on our way back to the house, Brooks stoked up a converation.
"So what do you want for your birthday? Since its tomorrow and all," Shit I had forgotten.
"Um... nothing just you," I said and lent over and kissed his cheek.
"Ok if you say so," and we sat in silence.
We got back to the house and I went to check on Denny and the Mare. We have now had her for four months and she has come such a long way. Brooks wants to put her in foal to Denny when she is in season. But we will have to wait and see. I fed them up then went back inside. Tomorrow I would be turning 25.
