Chapter 8

"I do," I said the best I could, holding back tears.

"I now pronounce you man, and wife."

And before the priest could even say it Brooks took hold of me and kissed me senseless. The audience erupted into applause. When Brooks broke the kiss the tears began to fall. I was so happy words can not describe. I was suddenly picked up and carried back down the isle. Music started playing.

"It's a kind of magic,
It's a kind of magic,
A kind of magic,
One dream, one soul, one prize," my parents walked back down the isle to this song.

Everyone was cheering. Next came the signing of the wedding certificate. We signed it and I officially became Mrs Audrey May West. I was ecstatic. Everyone stuck around and congratulated us and the kids were running a muck, getting out the energy they had stored after sitting down for so long.

Soon came the photos and we all posed in front of the camera, we had the brides family which was only Brooks and I with Joe and Sarah, and Brad and his wife Jess, I hadn't seen Brad since mums funeral and it turned out Jess was related Brooks some where alone the line.

But come Brooks family, well we struggled to get us all in the picture. There were close Aunts and Uncles his grandparents Sue and Justin, Madison and Todd and their kids and turns out Wyatt is also related the Brooks, I just thought they were good friends but no, man this guys family was huge. There was many laughs in talking that photo.

Then it was time for the reception. We all piled into all the cars, but it was just Brooks and I in the mustang.
"God your beautiful," he said moving a stray piece of hair away from my face.

"Your not to bad your self country boy," I said as I looked over his suit and down to his R M William's boots and laughed.

We had this agreement, if he didn't wear a suit then I wasn't wearing dress, that included suit pants, no jeans. And well he must have really wanted me in a dress because after much consideration and trying to work his way out of it he finally agreed.

"Nice boots, Mrs West," wow I would have to get use to that.

"Hm yeah very charming, a handsome man bought them for me," I said with a teasing smile.

"Really?" He said raising an eyebrow with a cheeky grin and I nodded my head vigorously and biting my tongue and giggled.

"Come here you," he said getting out of the seat and pouncing on me, tickling me and placing kisses all over. I was practically screaming, I hate being tickled and Brooks new this well. Then he stopped and lent over to my ear, "I will save the rest for tonight."

Well to say that I blushed would be the understatement of the century. I had stuck to my promise, no "love making" till after I was married. Well I recon Brooks had been counting down the days in all honestly, typical male.

It was a country style reception, hay bales scattered to sit on, trestle tables with brown ribbons and white table cloths, mason jars with candles. There was a spit roast with lamb and beef, roast potatoes in the BBQ and beers in the esky. It was all positioned around a semi large dance floor and speakers.
The crowds started filling up the room and taking there seats and the Kids were still running around and dancing on the dance floor to whatever country music was playing and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face, I was so happy.

Brooks and I took a seat in the middle of the bridle party table. There was the big wedding cake over to the left of us. It was double teared cake, nothing to flash. The reception went off with a bang and dinner was awesome which was closely followed but speeches, in which I cried some more and, Joe and Brooks recounted funny stories from my child hood, and the best man one of Brooks mates from school, Cody Cooper relived some of Brooks mischief he got up to in his younger years. Which left me in stitches.

Then as it got darker Brooks and I cut the cake, then the first Dance, which we had agreed to the song 'I don't dance" by Lee Bryce. We walked up, the crowd cheering as he held my hand. We made it out onto the dance floor and Brooks nodded to Hayley which pressed play on the song. The intro started and we moved slowly to the the music.
"Ill never settle down,
Thats what I always thought,
I was that kinda man,
Just ask any one," the words started and I looked up into Brooks eyes.

"I don't Dance, but here I am," then something happened and the song changed, I looked worriedly over to Hayley who was in control but she just nodded as if nothing was wrong.

"Ive been burning bright,
for so long I cant remember,
pretty girls and late night bars seem to be my line of work,
Believe me when I say girl I cant stay this high forever,
this man has had all he can stand,
its time to lay this body down," Brooks looked me in the eyes as if trying to talk through the song and my heart warmed, despite the fact that he changed our fist dance song.

"Sweet Annie, can I stay with you a while,
cause this roads been putting miles on my heart sweet heart,
I've been living in a fantasy,
but one day lightning will strike and my bark will loose its bite,
but don't give up on me, sweet Annie," he hummed lightly.

"But with an empty bed and the words I said don't carry and weight," he said referring to his rodeo life.
I buried my head in his chest trying to hide the tears, I was crying to much today.

He suddenly whipped me around in a circle as the music quickened, "Turn out the lights, these hand they long to hold you, fall all over you, all again," then everyone started coming onto the dance floor and dancing.

Then the music dropped back down to minimal instruments and Brooks slowed us down and we went back to a slow dance. When the song finished we walked over and got a drink as people swamped the dance floor. The next song blared through the speakers, Good Idea by McAlister Kemp, then was followed by forever begins tonight by the McClymonts.

The night went on and everyone stayed late and as the last song played around 12, Brooks pulled me on to the dance floor one final time.
"I don't know how many stars filled the sky,
I know we're here but I don't know why,
Maybe theres some other life out there,
But as long as your here with me baby I don't really care,
There is only one great mystery,
I keep searching for the answer desperately,
Tell me, tell me baby, tell me please,
What did I ever do to make you fall for me."

As the people began to leave we started to pack up a little bit, like bring in all the sound system. We made it inside and Brooks started undoing my dress and helped me take it off so I could go and have a shower before later.

I came out in an old singlet and a pair of cotton shorts and there was Brooks laying on the bed. I ran over and started jumping on the bed, suddenly full of energy. Then he pulled my legs out from underneath me and well as Randy houser would say, it started with a goodnight kiss.
