Isla thought that she was going to have to wait a long time to hear back from Elijah, so she was surprised when she found a letter addressed to her on her dresser. Cautiously, she approached the letter. Since her other siblings were back, she didn't know who had written the letter. Opening the letter, Isla found a piece of paper that read

Please join the Mikaelson family this evening at seven o' clock for dancing, cocktails, and celebration.

Isla shuddered. If they were throwing a ball, then there was only one explanation. Esther was alive. She did not want to face her mother and her siblings in one evening. She flipped over the envelope to see a handwritten message.

I hope that you can come, but I understand if you don't want to. -Elijah

Isla put the letter down and buried her face in her hands, thinking. She wanted to see her siblings, but she couldn't see them without running into her mother.

All of a sudden, she heard the voice of Elijah behind her.

"You got the letter." Isla turned around and sighed.

"Yes, I did." Elijah looked at his younger sister.

"Have you made a decision?" Isla opened her mouth to start talking, but she stopped herself from immediately saying no.

"I'm still thinking it over. On the one hand, it would be nice to see our brothers and sister, but on the other hand, I don't think I'm quite ready to face mother yet." Elijah nodded. He felt sympathetic for Isla and understood why she was hesitant. The rest of the siblings had no idea that their mother did this, that Isla was still alive.

"Well, if you do decide to come, I brought this for you." He placed the box he was holding on the dresser. Isla smiled.

"Thank you Elijah." She embraced her older brother in a tight hug. "For everything." She closed her eyes, wishing that time could freeze right then and there so she wouldn't have to deal with the next couple of days.
