Damon knew that it was only a matter of time before Elijah arrived, and he had something he needed answers about. Something that only Elijah could answer. Damon was nervous, he had to admit. The last time he had spoken to Elijah was before Klaus killed Elena. Since then, Klaus daggered Elijah, and at some point, Elijah was undaggered.

He didn't have a lot more time to think, because he heard a knock on the door. He opened the door to see Elijah, fiddling with his cufflinks.

"Why did you ask me to come here?" Damon clasped his hands together.

"I have a question for you." Damon pulled out his phone. On it was a picture of a letter carved in wood. "Do you know what this is?" Elijah reached for the phone, his face focused only on the picture.

"This is our family crest." He looked up at Damon. "Where did you find this?" Damon nodded.

"I came across this in the woods. It's right by here, actually. I can take you to it." Elijah kept his attention on the picture, trying to figure out what it could possibly be.

"Let's go." Damon took his phone back and started walking.

The walk only took a few minutes, and once they got there, Damon started clearing away the leaves. "This is it." Elijah dropped to his knees and traced the outline of the M with his hand.

"This is a coffin. I don't know who for, but the wood. I haven't seen this since I was a child." Damon continued clearing leaves and dirt from the coffin.

"Do you want to open it?" Elijah contemplated the answer for a moment, then placed both hands on the side of the coffin. "I think you should. Maybe there's a weapon in there." Elijah looked at the coffin.

"I don't know what to expect." Sighing, Elijah opened the coffin. What he saw caused him to fall back in shock. Damon peered in to see a young girl, not much older than Elena. She didn't look dead, or daggered. Just asleep.

"Elijah, who is this?" Elijah looked at the girl. He reached towards her, then backed away, as if she would break if he touched her. "My little sister." He brushed her hair behind her ear, and then grazed his fingers over her arm.

As soon as his fingers touched her arm, her eyes opened.
