For what seemed like an eternity, all Isla Mikaelson could see, hear, or feel was darkness. She was trapped, unable to open her eyes. Until all of a sudden, she was able to.
Isla opened her brown eyes to see a blue sky and trees. She was a little disoriented from waking up. She felt someone's hand on her arm, and she sat up. Surrounding her were two men, neither of whom she knew. She was frightened, so in defense, she extended her arm.
"Motus." The word sent the two men flying back. One hit the tree, and the other just hit the ground. The one who hit the tree slowly approached her, his hands held out in front of him as a sign of surrender. She prepared for a second attack, but as she looked closer, she started to recognize him. She dropped her hands, and tears formed in her eyes.
"Elijah?" She asked, her voice trembling. The man, Elijah, smiled. He looked as if he was crying. Isla stood up shakily and gripped her older brother in a tight hug. She started sobbing in his arms. Elijah placed his hand on the back of her head.
"I thought you were dead. We all did." Isla pushed away from the hug, reacting to what he had just said.
"How long has it been?" she asked. Elijah sighed, looking at the other two men.
"Isla, I don't know how to tell you this. It's been..." The other man chimed in.
"It's been a thousand years, right?" He looked at Elijah. Isla's eyes widened. Her heart started racing.
"A thousand years?" This couldn't be true. She looked to Elijah, who nodded. He gestured for her to follow him.
"I'll catch you up on everything. Come with me." He offered his hand, and Isla took it.
They walked through the woods for a little while before coming up to a house. Isla couldn't believe the size of the house. Compared to the size of the huts they lived in when she was a child, this was unlike anything she had ever seen.
"What is this place?" Elijah looked around.
"I'm not too sure about that myself, but the more important part is that it's safe." Isla turned her head in confusion.
"Safe from whom?" The other man chuckled, and Elijah sighed.
"Niklaus." Isla raised an eyebrow. She didn't know how Klaus was a problem. The last time she had seen him, he wouldn't hurt a fly. "He and Damon's brother have left the city. Niklaus has caused a lot of chaos in this town. He is not the same Niklaus that you remember."
