Isla sat in the Salvatore house, a blanket draped over her shoulders. Elijah thought it would help for her to be warm after being six feet under for a thousand years. Isla didn't see how it would help, but she didn't want to say that. He was just trying to help.
Elijah sat on the couch opposite his little sister, watching over her. He still couldn't believe that Isla was alive.
"How did this happen?" Isla looked up at her brother. This question brought back memories that Isla did not want to think about. But she knew that Elijah should know the truth.
"Our mother called us to dinner that night..." she started off with her story as Elijah listened intensely.
The Mikaelsons all sat at the table to begin their feast. The glasses in front of the children was filled with wine laced with magic-infused blood. As each child drank the wine, the only one who could taste the difference was Isla. She said nothing, thinking that it was a different kind of wine.
Once everyone had drunk the wine, Mikael stood up and walked over to Finn. All eyes were on Mikael as he unsheathed his sword and drove it through the eldest's heart. Before Isla had time to react, Mikael had moved on to Elijah. One by one, he killed each child.
As soon as Rebekah went limp, Isla lost control and panicked. She didn't want to die. So, she let out the most blood-curdling scream she could muster. The force of the scream was so powerful that it sent Mikael flying back into the wall, knocking him out. Isla turned her eyes to Esther, and Esther saw that Isla's eyes were shining a bright blue color. Esther knew exactly what was happening.
Esther dragged a crying Isla outside into the trees where they would not easily be seen. "Mother what are you doing?" Isla asked, tears streaming down her face. Esther stopped and turned to face her youngest child.
"Isla, what you did in there... no witch can do that. If I turn you, you could risk everything. I have to do this, I have to keep this secret safe." Isla stopped crying only because her mother wasn't making any sense.
"What secret?" Esther sighed. What she was about to do could change everything, but she had to do it.
"Dear child, I tell you this only because I know that you won't be able to tell anyone else." This comment sent a shiver down Isla's spine. "Mikael is not your father. If he finds out, he will stop at nothing to make sure that you and I suffer for it. And I intend for him to never find out." She started chanting in Latin, casting a spell. This spell Isla recognized, and she immediately started pleading with her mother.
"Mother, please. I won't do it again. I won't speak of it." Esther kept chanting. "Mother, I'm begging you. I don't want to die." She grabbed on to her mother's arm. Esther finished the spell and placed her thumb on Isla's forehead. Isla immediately started to feel drowsy, the effects of the spell were kicking in.
"You won't die, Isla. You will just be asleep. For however long it takes." That sentence was the last thing Isla heard for a thousand years.
By the time the story was finished, Isla had tears in her eyes. Elijah was on the verge of tears. He stood up slowly and walked over to sit down next to her, and immediately pulled her into a hug.
"I'm so sorry. This should have never happened to you." Isla started to cry, feeling safe in her brother's arms.
