The next couple of days were uneventful for Isla, as she sat around the house waiting for Elijah to heal from his werewolf bite so he could resume helping her with her memories. She knew Klaus had been spending the days fighting Marcel and his group of vampires, and she didn't really care about the whole power thing.
Isla heard the door open, and Elijah walked in.
"You're back." Elijah turned his head to face his younger sister. He smiled.
"Yes. Fortunately, the werewolf venom didn't last too long." He then went upstairs to confront Klaus. Curious, Isla followed him. At the top of the stairs, Klaus had Rebekah in a headlock with a dagger in his hand.
"You betrayed me." The hybrid spoke. "My own sister." Elijah stepped into the room, hoping to deescalate the conflict.
"Niklaus, don't you dare." He spoke in an assertive voice. Klaus turned to face him, still holding Rebekah.
"Well, perhaps it should be you, brother." He let go of Rebekah and pointed the dagger at Elijah. "Stealing my child away with every fawning moment of tenderness you show to Hayley." Elijah shook his head.
"This has nothing to do with Hayley."
"It has everything to do with her!" Klaus shouted back. "She's adored you since she arrived, and now my child, my blood, will grow up to call you father." Isla tilted her head at her brother's paranoia. She wasn't the only one to notice.
"Is that what this is?" Rebekah asked. "You are once again worried that you will be left behind? Has history taught you nothing? We don't abandon you, Nik. You drive us away." Klaus lowered the dagger, tears starting to form in his eyes.
"Is that so?" He paused. "What have I done lately, other than cooperate? I bowed down to you, brother, to make up for daggering you for the greater good of our plan to reclaim our home." He looked at Rebekah. "Looked the other way, sister, while you repeat the same cycle with Marcel, falling again for a man you shouldn't be with while he controls the empire that we built. That he took!" Tears were streaming down his face at this point.
"Now I make no excuses for past sins, but in the one moment when you two could have chosen to stand by me, to believe in me and believe my intentions for my own child were pure, you chose to stand against me, to side with my enemies." Isla didn't know what he was referring to, but she figured it must have happened while they were in the bayou. "I wanted our home back. Now I have it. So I'm going to live there, and the two of you, you can stay here together, and rot." He handed Elijah the dagger and walked past him. He stopped in front of Isla. "Are you coming with me, or staying with them?"
Isla didn't know how to respond. She hated this, feeling torn between her siblings. This never ending cycle of conflict was not how she wanted to spend her time in New Orleans. But she knew that if she stayed with Elijah and Rebekah, this would upset Klaus. And she was trying to avoid causing drama as much as possible. She sighed.
"I guess I'm coming with you." Klaus chuckled for a second, then kept walking.
"Then let's go." Isla looked at Elijah and Rebekah, before quickly packing and following Klaus out of the house.
