"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" SKYLAR breathed out slowly, resting her head against a wooden panel, "What was a trap?"
"Will tricked us!" Mike yelled, "He led them to us! You need to get out of the hospital!"
As he spoke, the lights above Skylar flickered and the radio began to lose connection, Mike's advice being lost in static.
"Mike?" Skylar begged, as she couldn't hear him any more. She changed to a different channel in hope, "Lucas? Dustin? Anyone?"
There was no reply, and the silence of the hospital chilled her bones. The directional signs were unhelpful, the pointless words being faintly illuminated by the moonlight. Wind still howled at the windows, but now it sounded more like screaming.
"Shit, shit shit!" Skylar whispered frantically, spinning around to look for an easy exit. Spying a set of stairs, she raced towards them with her heart in her throat, adrenaline pumping through her veins.
Skylar practically flew down the stairs, slipping on the last one and landing with a crash on the floor. She quickly pulled herself up, almost crying out in pain as her ankle crumbled underneath her.
With one hand clinging to the banister, she held her hand out towards her foot, closing her eyes and breathing soothingly as she tried to focus her mind on it. But the terror consuming her was too much, and she could only slightly numb the pain.
A metallic scent filled the air as blood trickled from her nose, and a curious squealing came from around the next corner. Pain crashed through Skylar's head and she exhaled slowly, silently pressing her back to the wall.
Edging her way along the wall and trying to stop her shoes from squeaking, Skylar slowly pushed open a door, sliding into the darkened room with a breathy sigh.
As her eyes adjusted, she could make out the four walls, which were all very close together - and there was no other exit. Brooms and buckets clattered around as she stumbled around looking for a light switch, and Skylar realised with a sinking heart that she had hidden in a supply closet.
"I can't die here," she whimpered, resting her head against the door, "Think!"
Skylar mapped out the hospital in her mind, trying to remember all the turns she had taken during her exploration. She could only recall going up one flight of stairs, and she had just gone back down some.. so surely she was on the first floor. That meant she just had to find the exit.
Hope flooded through Skylar, before a snarl came from the other side of the door, reminding her of the predicament she was in.
The Demogorgon slammed it's body against the wooden barrier, the hinges rattling each time. Skylar pressed her body against the shelves, getting as far away as she could from the creature outside.
