"I THINK HE'S TALKING, JUST not with words." Hopper was hunched over the table, scribbling dots and dashes onto a sheet of paper. The kids were crowded around him, and Skylar hadn't even noticed that she and Lucas were still tightly holding hands.

"What is that?" Steve was looking down at the paper with his hands on his hips.

"Morse code." All of the kids replied in unison, making Steve hold his hands up in surrender.

"H-E-R-E." Hopper spelled out, and everyone looked at each other in confusion.

"Will's still in there. He's talking to us." Hopper put the pen down gently.

"You don't have to do this," Joyce reminded Skylar as the pair stood in front of the shed, "And if you feel like you're in danger, at any point, just tell me and we'll get you out of there."

Skylar was reminded of the year before, when Joyce had given a similar speech to Skylar and Eleven, just before they went into the Upside Down.

"I'll be fine," Skylar forced herself to straighten her back and smile, "He's my friend, and, besides, I might be able to help him with this message."

Joyce smiled at her, before opening the door and ushering her inside. Will was strapped to a chair, a blindfold tightly around his eyes. It made Skylar feel sick to see what they had to do, for everyone's safety.

Hopper pulled away the blindfold, and Skylar settled herself in front of Will. They boy's eyes bulged angrily as he saw her, but he was unable to move.

Skylar tugged at the bandage on her hand nervously, "Hey, Will," she wasn't expecting an answer, so she continued shakily, "I didn't really know what to say, but I decided to use my favourite memory of us both."

Hopper sent her an encouraging nod, and Skylar slumped her shoulders, "It was last year, and I had just moved here. We were sat in Mr. Clarke's lesson, and I didn't understand anything he was saying." Skylar smiled slightly at the memory, "You leaned over and told me all the answers, and then for that entire lesson we were throwing glue at each other."

Will's fingers began tapping on the side of the chair, making Skylar's heart soar.

"I'm p-pretty sure that Mr. Clarke noticed, but he didn't say anything because I wasn't looking as sad anymore. And then you let me hang around with you, and you even let me join in on all of your group meetings, even when nobody else wanted me there."

Skylar's eyes were welling up as she continued, "You're like the glue that holds us all together. Last year, when you went missing, we were all falling apart. You were so brave, Will, and I wish I could be like you. You went through so much - and you still are - and somehow you haven't given up."
